but you are still asking the owner of #1 to add to that side of the trade?

    no no

I own schwartz and owner of first overall is shopping the pick.

We were chatting and he suggested Schwatrz #9, #12 #36 for first overall

Im not keeping bergeron erickson or voracheck

Giroux Schwartz Larking Fabri TT or Wenberg
    KArlson Klingberg Ghost Parayko Vatanen

    Allen Helly

    And either Elliot or Lindell

I will have $35M to spend at the draft on 10 players and there is always lots of forwards avalable

I won the legue with my D last year and plan the same approach for this year, load up on D

Thanks for all the input everyone I really appreciate it

Seems like a 50/50 split on #1 overall or Scwartz #19 and #12

Is Laine's upside vs Schwartz worth 2 other very good assets at 9 and 12 (maybe a prospect like conner and a very good D).

I think its too much to pay. Schwartz is my fave player and has an excellent contract now

Should I offer Giroux instead of schwartz and no #36?

Should I offer Fabbri or Ghost instead of Schwartz?

Iron seems hot so quick responses very appreciated

    Thanks

If this is your first offer, why include both picks? I would start with Schwartz & the 12th, lets not go adding the 9th as well. See where he's at. I'd also consider subbing Fabbri, as you mentioned. Start small and build, don't start big and build. 1st offer, should never be the best offer. Why give away an asset if you don't have to?

on the other side of the fence: if he's shopping it, he's trying to hit a homerun of a deal

That was me just saying draft matthews instead of laine if you get #1 and get him to also add those later picks back so its not 3 picks for none

Hmm. I bet he knows Schwartz is your favorite player, and expects a counter offer. Therefore, you can go a couple way with this.

    1. Keep Schwartz in, but pull out the #9 pick. I don't think that will fly, but it leaves you the option to the re-counter with the #9, but no #12 in the deal.

    2. Counter with his choice of one of 5 or so players from your roster excluding Schwartz. Include the name guys you aren't keeping (Bergeron, Voracek, et al) and the guys whom you are on the fence between there at the end of your list above (like Wenberg) Leave the #9 in, but pull out the #12 pick.

That will let you gauge what he is looking for, and you can make a deal you can love, I hope.
