Goalies like Luongo, Brodeur & Vokoun are the vocal and emotional leaders of their teams. They all share a ton of pride and competitive spirit, so why not \"name\" them captain if they deserve it? Big deal if they can\'t wear the \"C\". The letter on the jersey is all for show on the ice anyway. The true captains, whether they wear it or not, show their leaership on and off the ice. They dont need no stinking letter.

As for talking to the officials....goalies do that before practically every faceoff and during most t.v. timeouts. What\'s the problem? If their is a conflict during play, just have the assistant captains handle it. Thats why, along with the captain, the assistant captain been given the power to discuss matters with the referee.
