Good point.
You\'re talking about pro-rating for when times the PP does not last very long.
As well, there should be a factor that takes into account the times you give up SH goals.
I\'ve often thought that the way the powerplay stats are displayed on broadcasts is a bit useless and a little misleading. The current way of ranking the teams by percentage just doesn\'t make much sense as the main way of ranking efficiency.
I think the most important statistic is powerplay goals for because ultimately the team with the most powerplay goals has the best powerplay since goals are what matter.
But really, powerplay efficiency should be displayed by goals per minute. For example, Vancouver is 1 per 4:18 for example. How many times does a powerplay last the full two minutes? A team could finish a game 1/10 on the PP but if it was a penalty filled affair then they may have only spent 6 minutes on the powerplay. A PP could last 5 seconds and be counted as an \"opportunity\". They could also show how many times a team took a penalty on a powerplay and killed their chance. Anyway, in the world of databases and statistics this information and some other quirky stats could probably be quickly found. Why not give the viewer a few more things to think about during the game?
