No surprise here for anyone who has kept tabs on him...so many Canucks \"fans\" are up in arms if you listen to the local radio though.

Ray Ferraro was giving him no slack about being injured commenting he could still work out on a bike in his cast.

As far as i know he has a one way deal. Can/will the Canucks send him to the farm and bring him up later in the season when he is NHL ready? They have had no qualms sending past overpaid flops to Manitoba like Marc Chouinard.

I just can\'t understand stuff like this. Goin\' from prospect to dud in Toronto was one thing, but then, when another team takes a chance on you and you have a good chance to play on the top 2 lines there, why wouldn\'t you do everything possible to come into camp and impress the shit out of everybody.

Instead he just totally repeated his past mistakes. Like these are the guys that don\'t deserve the NHL. I understand he\'s young and all, and I\'m assuming a lot here, but I thought every guy would do everything possible to stay at the NHL level and play at their maximum potential. If you don\'t have the desire to play, do something else (i.e. Legein). People gave him shit for quitting early but it\'s better than wasting everybody\'s time like Wellwood does.

Btw, that\'s funny that he never had a penalty in 100+ nhl games. Wonder what the record is?

Yeah, you should\'ve seen the picture of him that the Province ran this morning, lounging by the pool this summer with no shirt on. Let\'s just say it made me feel better about what I see in the mirror everyday.

Wellwood has been doing two-a-day workouts for the past seven weeks. He was in AWFUL shape at the beginning - and is much improved. All Vigneault said was that he has a ways to go still - and he agreed.

Stories like this make me glad the off-season is almost over.

Considering he broke his foot and couldn\'t start any real training until mid-July I don\'t think there should be an uproar quite yet.
