    Default Lehner - Update

    Per fantrax today:

Lehner (high ankle sprain) hasn't suffered a setback and is taking the ice in full gear, reports the Olean Times Herald.

Analysis: The report contradict's Saturday's edition of"Hockey Night in Canada," on which it was said that Lehner would remain out for the next 3-to-4 weeks. The fact is, Lehner is on the ice and and moving around, which means that he will return at some point in the near future. Linus Ullmark and Chad Johnson have alternated starts and held the fort, but Lehner will likely resume his duties as the No. 1 goalie upon his return.

Great news! It will be nice to see how he performs for a Buffalo team that has great potential to start posting some wins.

    Whoa! Pump the brakes....

    - Young goalie
    - New team
    - Not in game shape
    - Not in mental game ready shape.
    - Lost the end of last season to a lingering concussion
    - High ankle sprains always nagging until they are completely healed
    - GAA over 3.00 for the last 2 seasons

Temper your expectations for the day that he is deemed ready to come off the IR.

True, True. I don't think anybody expects Lehner to walk in and steal the show. He may even be demoted to the back-up position. Buffalo seems to have a lot of faith in him though and will give him every opportunity to hold the starting job. It is up to him after that.

I think it's going to take a few games for Lehner to get back into game shape when he finally does return
