Wow! You never stop!!! Haven\'t you said recently that you wouldn\'t be as available as you were this summer??? If the past few days are the \"less\" available ones, I\'ll take them anytime!
Great info as always!
Tampa
Zenon Konopka is so wants to make the team he hit Prospal, fought with Smaby, got O\'Brien to run him over in front of goal, and tried to get Artukhin to drop the gloves with him hmy:
Artukhin\'s comment afterwards: \"He asked me if I wanted to fight ... It\'s been so long, I got a little confused, rusty.\"
Rangers
Zherdev - I better quote this: \"Though his teammates competed for the puck, took the body and drove to the net ... Zherdev displayed no urgency whatsoever ... The 23-year-old took short cuts throughout the charged morning scrimmage, once turning over the puck while dangling one-on-one three feet inside the offensive line, the giveaway leading to a goal-against, and consistently failed to move either the puck or his feet with any obvious purpose ... Indeed, Zherdev, whose pseudo star-like body language on the ice has by far eclipsed his performance the first two days on the ice, was so ineffective with linemates Scott Gomez Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund that Renney switched the combination for a handful of shifts ... No. 13 was the laziest athlete on the ice\"
Lines - Drury played with Dawes and Prucha, Dubinsky with Fritsche and Callahan, Betts with Korpikoski and Orr. Renney was concerned with the lack of size on those Drury and Dubinsky lines and will try Voros and Rissmiller on them
More Rangers
Rangers have 14 forwards and 6 D on one-way contracts, so for forwards on two-ways like Korpikoski and Anisimov to make the club they\'d need to force someone to be traded. They do have the advantage of having some size (see above).
However, Renney on Korpikoski: \"He\'s going to get a chance, he has to ... He\'s a great skater, he\'s strong, he goes to the net well. He\'s got a defensive conscience, of course, and we have to make sure that we give ourselves a fair evaluation of him because there\'s too much to turn down if we don\'t. He\'s very much in the mix.\"
Corey Potter, Maxim Kondratiev, Brian Fahey and Thomas Pock are battling for the 7th D spot, and Potter seems to be making a good case for himself. Renney: \"We might be looking for a little more bite back there, Corey\'s got some of that.\"
Bruins
Nokelainen, Sobotka, Reich and Yelle are competing for one roster spot.
More Bruins
Marquardt and Wheeler are making a good case for themselves, with the Bruins brass acknowledging their need for size up front.
Comment: with so much depth in cheaper guys vying for roster spots, good camps from them would mean numbered days in Boston for Schaeffer and Axelsson. Getting rid of them would also give the Bruins cap breathing roo for deals later in the season.
