Default What to ask for for my Parise

For my team in sig, another GM is asking about Parise. His team is

C: Getzlaf Kuznetsov Thornton McDavid Monahan Lee
    C/LW: Galchenyuk
    LW: Simmonds Marchand
    LW/RW: Abdelkader
    RW: P Kane Jagr
    C/RW: O’Reilly
D: Keith Burns Weber Giordano Goligoski
    G: Allen Miller Neuvirth Berra

What would I need from him to give up Parise? I like my team, but I think I might be able to turn my depth at LW into an improvement elsewhere. A #2 C and a top D would be my most obvious holes. Maybe Getzlaf and Burns for Parise and Beauchemin? Or same but sub Thornton for Getzlaf? And should I try to trade Hall instead? One consideration – in the playoffs for my league, San Jose plays 15 games, while Minnesota plays only 13 with a 2-day week, and Edmonton plays 12.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I would want Monahan. Whether he feels that is fair or not though is the question. If he said no I would say Chucky +

With Parise's SOG numbers (currently ~3.4 SOG/game, which I believe is still easily sustainable for him) and his 0:42 more PPmin/game, I would find it hard to give him up for just Monahan.

Look at the big picture though. Zach Parise is 31 years old, he has gotten off to a hot start but let's be realistic here, he is a 30 goal scorer at best right now but for how long? He has to start slowing down sometime soon surely. Sean Monahan is on the same team as Johnny Gaudreau, Sam Bennet ect. Sean Monahan as a 20 year old is already a solid 30 30 guy and who knows how much higher he can get. He looks solid for the next 10 years. Now Parise is good for another 3-4 years max maybe?

I agree since you dont count faceoffs. I would say Parise for Getzlaf, since I dont think the Getzlaf/Burns for Parise/Beauchemin would be accepted, but you can give it a try since Getzlaf's value can't be lower then it is right now.

Well, my league is in many ways closer to a 1-year league than a keeper. Monahan was drafted in the 16th round this year, so he can be kept for the price of a 12th round pick next year, an 8th round pick the year after that, a 5th round pick the year after that... As you can see, players don't make good keepers for long, and often good players have no keeper value at all. For example, I drafted Parise in the 2nd round so I would have to use my 1st round pick to keep him next year.

So, for this year alone, do you still like Monahan for Parise?

Update: He offered Thornton for Parise. That's not enough for me.
