Stamkos to Toronto is as much of a given as Perry to Toronto, Bobby Ryan to Philly, etc.

I heard Stamkos already has his locker picked out in the ACC dressing room.
Stammer to TOR rumors don't make sense to me. Sure, he was born in the area, but do you really think a guy in his prime wants to waste the best years of his career in the middle of a rebuild with Tyler Bozak as his center/wing? I'm not convinced.

The Lightning would still be successful without Stamkos.. They need to think long term here..
Going to be interesting to see what happens!!

I think both Stamkos and Bishop are going to be moved eventually..

Still seems crazy to me that Stammer may get traded. I hope he goes to the Leafs though. Nylander, Stamko, Marner
As a Nylander fan I hope for it
I'm not sure I see a situation where Stamkos goes to the Leafs and the Leafs somehow still have Nylander and Marner. Maybe one but definitely not both.
I think the Lightning could set themselves up for the next 7-10 years of contention if they move Stamkos & Bishop, could net huge returns.

this stamkos talk is so stupid. he's not going anywhere, he'll re-sign in tampa.
obviously the only way he leaves is if:
1 - yzerman thinks his massive raise will cripple the team
2 - stamkos wants out
i just can't see a trade going down. if yzerman is willing to move stamkos, teams will automatically assume that stamkos wants out, and rightfully so. which means chances are he wont re-sign with the team that is trying to trade for him, which means they aren't going to offer up anything remotely close to fair value.
besides, when is the last time a team walked away from a player of stamkos' calibre just because of contract negotiations? i cant remember the last time a franchise C at his age ever hit FA.
another cup run is going to be worth much more than any return yzerman could get at the deadline.
he's not getting traded, i just can't see it.
again, i think the odds of stamkos re-signing in tampa is still like 90%, but if and only if he leaves tampa, i just can't see any other team but toronto.
tampa is a contender, great place to live, the team that drafted him...so many reasons not to leave.
-- end rant.
and now, as a toronto fan, clinching to any little hope of him coming to toronto:
i really can't see any situation play out where he doesn't re-sign with tampa...but i guess if that doesnt happen it has to be Toronto. that MIGHT be the only way a trade gets done. in order to offer Stamkos 8 years, toronto will have to trade for him. zero chance they give up a pivotal piece like nylander or marner.
what about kadri? still a pretty good piece, but seems like he has already been replaced longterm in toronto. tampa gets a good asset for someone who would have left for nothing, toronto gains the ability to offer Stamkos the extra year to bring him home.
Leafs top prospects:
Center: Marner, Nylander, Cameranesi (meh), Gauthier (3rd line max)
RW: Kapanen, Brown, Bracco, Hyman. All really good prospects
LW: Leipsic, A. Johnson, Engvall (meh)
D: Percy, Harrington, Valiev, Dermott, Granberg, Corrado.
G: Bibeau
I can see a massive package involving Kadri, but Marner and others would have to be involved to get Stamkos. And seriously, what does Tampa need? Maybe just a RW that would play on the top line with Stamkos right now….but that’s moot when you trade Stamkos.

I can 't just see TB trading Stamkos unless we wants out, and in that case the return will be totally underwhelming (as it was with Kovalchuk). And I don't see a reason to Stammer to want out. He's on a contender, young team with a lot of space to get better.
If Tampa wants to shed sallary they'll probably move Bishop and roll with Vasilevskiy and Gudlevskis, and get rid of some veteran d-man (I'm baffled Matt Carle has not been shipped for a bag of pucks).
