I have heard such great things about Mantha, that I am always surprised when I hear just as many reports about how terrible he is and how he doesn't have what it takes to make it in the NHL.
So who has it right?

Edmonton trades Hall in a deal for Quick - LA rolls with Jones and lands Talbot.
Detroit trades Anthony Mantha
Chicago trades Sharp, Oduya signs elsewhere and Shaw is traded as well.
NY trades Nash to Carolina
Ottawa trades Lehner to San Jose
Pavelec goes to Calgary
Ok its more than 5. Sorry.
I don't see them moving their 1st round pick though.
Maybe that's the Wings strategy to get him to play the Wings way. Maybe the fact that the information has leaked is a message from the Wings to him to wake up?
Keeper's league, points only, 24 teams league Skaters: 1 pt for goal and 1 pt for assist, Goalie, 2 pts for win, + 2 pts for SO
I just don't understand Cox saying Phaneuf has such value but contract is a problem. We'd be taking back stiff Weiss, and Smith(maybe top 4 def. But perhaps a 5,6) contracts.

Vanek was a perfect fit for Montreal when they acquired him. Even though his production slipped in the playoffs, he allowed player to be in their respective role during that season by pushing everyone down on the depth chart. Gallagher went on L2, Gionta on R3. The Habs don't have any legitimate top6 RW after Gallagher (I'm on the fence about Parenteau).

I don't understand the shocking honesty from Devallano. How does this not severely devalue your asset or discourage a team from wanting to acquire him?
To insult a player then to say you wanna trade him seems counter intuitive. If you break a player down it should be to benefit you. The Wings should have talked him up saying they want him on the NHL team next yr, raising his trade value. Or make it look like teams are pulling him away from you.
Can’t say I read anything anymore on Mantha, a lot of it is “he could be great if…” or “if he changes this…”, so I get the feeling he’s not mentally in the game. It’s a quick change honestly if he’s just mentality checked out, but a hard change. Gets to the right team and coach, his state-of-mind switches and becomes the star the wings wanted.
