Mike Babcock sure likes speaking in the third person in that video, from it I get the impression that Mike Babcock wants Mike Babcock to stay in Detroit and Mike Babcock also believes that Detroit is a good fit for Mike Babcock as well.

I think it's Detroit as first option but I have this feeling that he would love the opportunity to team up with former player of his Shanahan and be the coach that brings Toronto back to relevance. I don't think he's all that deeply interested in Buffalo. Maybe he's using them as leverage to drive up $$$ for a contract? No idea. Hunch says Detroit, and if not Detroit than it will be Toronto.

I was adament on him going to St. Louis as I thought this thing would drag out until mid-summer, but clearly that isn't the case.
i don't see any reason why he'd go to buffalo.

buffalo has two main selling points:

1 - bright future - but, edmonton easily trumps them with the addition of McDavid
2 - $$$ - but, toronto easily trumps them in that department too.

i think detroit is out of the picture now. gonna say he lands in edmonton, with a small chance in toronto.

Just watched the interview, I totally think he is staying in Det after watching that.

I don't want to say that his wife wears the pants in that relationship, but I think family is very important to Mike Babcock. Agreed that it sounds very much like Detroit...but why the subterfuge, Mike?

    sub·ter·fuge

    1. Deception used to achieve an end: tried to get her to sign the contract by subterfuge.
    2. A deceptive stratagem or device: The meeting was a subterfuge to get him out of his office while it was searched.

I'm not saying he'll choose Buffalo. But Buffalo has far more to offer than Toronto as far as hockey development. The Harbor Center will be - hell it already is - home to collegiate tournaments in addition to many other prospect tourneys with it's twin NHL-sized rinks. What's going on here locally transcends anything Toronto has to offer beyond name recognition.

And money...pffft...no one is going to out bid Pegula if he really want Babcock.

EDIT: Just read THIS. If Babs is steeped in development, he'll stay in DET or come here.

Why would he go to all these interviews if he was just planning on staying in Detroit anyway??

And here we go. Fire it up. Wild next couple days. St. Louis could very well be in the mix afterall. I called this a while back in various threads and hey it may come to light..

what do prospect tournaments have anything to do with babcock? you think those tournaments will entice him to coach in buffalo? lol

and toronto can easily outbid pegula, don't kid yourself.

i still think he goes to edmonton. we'll see soon enough i guess.

Thought this was interesting. I've been hoping for this as a Sharks fan, but won't get my hopes up.

The main thing is that he initiated talk with the Sharks, which I think is pretty impressive. I got the feeling awhile back that his wife doesn't like Detroit and man oh man do they love Northern California usually.

Well considering it was down to 3 teams, Detroit, Buffalo and Toronto, as of Friday, I believe we have a new favorite!

I've said from the minute Detroit was eliminated, St.Louis would be the best fit for the B-cock..
