    Default Possible Trade For Kane

Right now I am top 5 in a Scoresheet simulation league - basically G, A and +/- are main value for skaters.

At Center, I am sitting on Malkin, Bergeron, McKinnon, Strome, Nelson and Ribero (we start three each week)
I have Kessel and Nyquist at RW and very little at left (Elias/Soderberg/CWilson/Comeau).

I am thinking Kane might be a worthwhile target right now and the owner with Kane has Marleau. Does Malkin for Kane/Marleau make sense (if I can get it done)?

Does it matter? It's a no to either scenario from me. Keep Malkin.

No one should be untouchable, including Malkin. There's always a price for anyone. Without all the details, or in this case, the right ones, you can't give accurate advice, even if it includes someone like Malkin.

I agree Malkin is not untouchable, but if you actually read my post, you would see that I don't think it matters. Either way, whether it is Evander or Patrick, the price is not high enough and I (note that I said 'from me') would not trade Malkin for that package, whether it included Evander or Patrick.

Sorry - I was thinking Patrick Kane and Marleau for Malkin. We can only start 3 players at each LW/C/RW - and the 1st at each is the only one to get full points - 2nd at each gets .8 and third at each gets .6. So having 4 or 5 good centers doesn't help me if I don't have a high quality starter at LW - turning Malkin into a good RW and LW seemed to make sense. We also only keep 9 players form year to year...

I understand where you're coming from, that's a bit of a weird setup, but in a limited keeper, I generally don't ever want to move one of the best players in the game unless I'm getting a significant upgrade on my overall keepers. Let's see your full roster though so we know who you're keeping.

On the surface, I still don't like the deal. I would rather see something like Kane/Hall if I'm moving Malkin, especially in a limited keeper. With Marleaus age, I want an asset that is going to produce for years to come.

    More info...

    LW: Elias/Soderberg,Ca/Wilson,Co/Comeau,Bl/Domi,Ma/Fleischma,To
    C: Bergeron/Malkin/MacKinnon/Ribeiro/Nelson/Bennett,Sa/Strome
    RW: Kessel/Nyquist/Byfuglien/Brown/Nieto,Ma
    D: Weber/Yandle/Doughty/Trouba/Phaneuf/Vatanen
    G: Schneider/Elliott/Allen

Start 3 lines on offense, 2 defensive lines and a goalie

    For All Skaters:
    A goal = 1 point
    A short-handed goal = 1.50 points
Power play goal = 0.70 points
    An assist = 0.50 points
    Each +/- = 0.10 points
Each penalty minute = —0.05 points

    For Goalies Only:
    A minute played = 0.01 points
    A shot against = 0.06 points
    A goal allowed = —0.60 points

The players playing on your first lines (both offensive and defensive) get their full point total.
For your second line offensive and defensive players, their points are only worth 0.8 of full value,
and for third line offensive players, their points are multiplied by 0.6.

We play 3 games head to head each week...

    Expected Keepers (8): Bergeron/Malkin/MacKinnon/Kessel/Nyquist/Weber/Yandle/Schneider

    Possible: Nelson/Bennett,Sa/Strome/Domi,Ma/Doughty/Trouba/Vatanen/Elliott/Allen

How many teams? Probably not too many with the size of your roster. Keeper wise, I wouldn't make the deal. You have a decent set of keepers that you're not going to be able to upgrade significantly by adding Marleau and Kane. In a good year Kane can put up about 80 points, maybe 90. In a good year, Malkin can put up 110, maybe 120. So it's a - 30 point swing. Adding Marleau, you would drop Nyquist or Bergeron, and maybe gain 10 points. Overall it just doesn't make any sense. Even if you look at it from a position perspective it won't work out in your favour. Maybe if you don't believe Malkin can produce greater than a point per game you make the deal, but to me he's just too valuable in a limited keeper.

The ONLY reason I would consider trading Malkin in this scenario is if the trade pretty much GAURANTEES you a first place finish this year.
