Lots to talk about in the NFL today. Not all that interested in talking about the Peterson/Goodell pissing match, so how's about this one:

The Cleveland Browns apparently released Ben Tate today. Messy backfield situation for sure, but didn't see that one coming. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.

Yeah, I'm in that boat too. Still, I find it really odd how Pettine messed with all 3 backs this season (not announcing a starter many games, random benchings/inactives from week to week, etc.). Just bizarre.

Nevertheless, I too wish I had spent that draft pick elsewhere.

I didn't draft Tate but would of if available to me. I don't blame Pettine for how he handled the rb situation. Because when there's shenanigans, there's often a Shannahan involved

yes, I would bet on that scenario.

IMO I believe they just realized he is not a very good back. he can't block. they just watc him behind that awesome Houston line Houston used to have and thought he was better than he was.

That being said he did not play badly outside of blocking. matter of fact none of their backs have played badly.

I am more amazed they have not just kept with West all year. but they are playing good enough so who am I to say.

How's that for a little twist of fate? Seems eerily similar to the situation that existed in the Browns backfield 36 hours ago.

Now have both Crowell and West in the Dobber Tier II league. Tempted to play Crowell this week (v that bad Atlanta D).

rumor is it's going to be a 60/40 split in favor of Crowell. but again that's rumor. Regardless there should be enough for both Crow and West to see viable fantasy production.

I actually think this is a better setup for Tate. despite the faults the Vikings have run blocking is not 1 of them. I also think he has basicly no competition. if I am a Tate owner I would be happy down the road. and you know Tate is gonna run mad.
