Third goalie: Jake Allen or Cam Ward

Team and league details in my sig. I just picked up Jake Allen as a third goalie, thinking mainly that I want a backup for emergencies, who I can also play during his occasional starts along with my two main goalies. It also seems Allen is challenging Elliott for amount of starts this season.

However, another player recently waived Cam Ward, so if he clears waivers I was thinking of dropping Allen and picking up Ward. One major con is the Hurricanes suck. The pros are that Cam Ward himself seems to be doing pretty well this season, and he's a starting goalie as opposed a backup. (However, I've also heard speculation that Allen could very well be the Blues' starter by the time the season ends.)

So should I grab Ward if I can, or stick with Allen?

Cam Ward would only be a consideration of a league included "SAVES".

I agree. Allen is the best guy to have for "spot starts." He has and will continue to be solid and will likely have better peripherals than both of your starters.

With Crawford carrying the bulk, and Halak doing the same until he's injured, Allen is the right third option

Stay away from Ward. The minute you stick him in your lineup he will reward you with a GAA of 4.00 and a S% of 85%

Maybe Ward will get it figured out, but I wouldn't want to bet my team's fortunes on it.
