Sorry for some reason, I read the Stepan thread as Stephan and didn't know who that was....
The last update was that he had been cleared for contact, but that he hadn't actually fully practiced. It sounded like he had an outside chance of playing last game, but in the end he didn't. He has two games this weekend and I would love to be able to slot him into the lineup. Any one have further details?

C - Larkin, Couturier, Kopitar, Cirelli
LW - OV, Panarin (1), Schenn (C), Ehlers (RW), Kreider
RW - Kucherov (0), Seguin (C), Palmieri, Voracek, Yamamoto
D - Yandle, DeAngelo
W, GAA, SV% and Saves.
G - Rask, Varlamov, Hart, Mrazek
IR+ - Tarasenko

I read (can't remember where) that he would play on Saturday.
Don't expect him to be at 100%. He is being rushed back. He is coming off of a MAJOR INJURY*. He missed training camp. Temper your expectations.
*Yes, I know, I know: This is not a high ankle sprain, a severed achilles, a dislocated ankle....etc, but breaking your fibula is significant.
The fibula does not carry any significant load (weight) of the body. It extends past the lower end of the tibia and forms the outer part of the ankle providing stability to this joint. It has grooves for certain ligaments which gives them leverage and multiplies the muscle force.
- I said... "God damn this tablet is heavy!"
Suppose to play Saturday, can wait and see what happens to take off IR.
Yes major injury, will activate him once he plays.

Fiblua fracture is not as major as you think. Most fractures take 4 - 8 weeks and your good to go with weight bearing exercise. Fibula is a non-weight bearing bone. Really depends on what type and where the fracture is located. Distal fibula would be more severe due to ligament attachments; however, mid-shaft is not as bad. Often breaks heal much better than ligament sprains (ligaments leave instability fractures don't). My only concern would be his conditioning.
Member of OCHA
Derek Stepan appears as though he will return from a fractured fibula on Saturday versus Toronto.

This. This is a more minor injury compared to what hockey players typically experience. A decent sprain would be worse than this, although it might not keep you out as long, they tend to linger much longer. Once the bone heals, you're pretty much good to go. You rarely hear news of guys reinjuring a fracture/break.
Derek Stepan (fractured fibula) is set to return on Saturday.
It will be Stepan's first game of the season. He's projected to play on the second line with Chris Kreider and Mats Zuccarello. Stepan is a talented player, but we recommend tempering your short-term expectations as he could be rusty after missing the start of the campaign.
