Jarome Iginla could go before Thornton.
Taking goalies out of the equation(at least 1 or 2 are drafted in the 1st round of my league every year), what wingers/centers would you take before you drafted Joe Thornton? He had an \"off year\" last year and im trying to see exactly how far most people think he would fall because of it. I would love to have Thornton(he should be a beast again this year) and an Elite goalie in the first round & second rounds, and I think with last year\'s \"off\" season for the Sharks it may actually be possible.
I think these wingers/centers could possibly go before Thornton in my draft:
1)Crosby
2)Ovechkin
3)Malkin
4)Heatley
5)Lecavalier
Can anyone name any other wingers they think could possibly go before Thornton in my draft? Or are these guys pretty much it?
Offensive Categories: G,A,PPG,PPP,SHP
God I love planning for a draft!
The only other two names that might go would be Datsyuk and/or Zetterburg...... although personally I would think that Big Joe should go at #5, after Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin and Lecavalier
on fantasy hockey hiatus!!!

That\'s the only one I could think of. Zetts maybe but I doubt it.Jarome Iginla could go before Thornton.
We get one of these - Don't waste it.
Am I the only one who thinks Kovalchuk could?! If its goal weighted and or positional requirements are involved I think you could really make a case for Kovy...
Thanks guys. I forgot about Iginla. I can definitely see Ovie,Sid,Malkin & probably Lecavalier going before Thornton. After that all I could do is hope that Iggy & Heater are taken before or after I have the chance to take Thornton. That is of course I dont have one of the top 3 picks.
Now that asks the question: Thornton or Lecavalier? Who would you rather have?
I would also suggest maybe one of the big 3 from Ottawa, mostly Spezza, but maybe Alfy for his SHPs.

if it was just ppp and not ppg as a category I would say thornton. Since ppg i\'ll take vinny

D-Letang, Hamilton, Carlson, Burns, Giordano
G-Andersen, Lehner, Jones
IR-Tarasenko
Farm - Vilardi, Newhook, McMichael, Gusev, Holtz
I think if guys were sharp in this league that Lecav, Heater, Zetts, Iggie,Alfie and Kovalchuk could all go before Thorton - with the emphasis that ppg and shp have - I think this guys could be easily more valuable that JT. I doubt it would happen but I think Hossa probably bears consideration too. I struggle to see how Dats or Spezza should be selected over JT.
So as far as skaters go - yeah he could fall to 10th, but I doubt he will.
Thanks guys. It was really bugging me where to put Thornton.
I\'d take Zetts over Thorton. Zetts does it all, goals, assists, short handed points, face offs, shots on goals, massive +/-. I think the rewards outweigh the risks on Zetterberg. Drafting him 1 or 2 in my last two years has really payed off, even with his injuries!

based off your scoring and using last years stats here are the guys that come in above Joe:
Ovie
Crosby
Malkin
Zetts
Alfredson
Kovalev
Datsyuk
Spezza
Iginla
Alfie gets there on his 9 SHP, Kovalev had a whopping 47 PPP. As you note though, he should be back above 100 pts this season so if you get get him this late it would be an excellent acquisition
Considering your scoring categories, I would add Iginla and Zetterberg to your list:
1)Crosby
2)Ovechkin
3)Malkin
4a)Heatley
4b)Iginla
5)Lecavalier
6)Zetterberg
7)Thornton
Spezza, Datsyuk, Staal and Kovalchuk are really close, but I would take Thornton before them.
As for Kovalev, as much as I love him, I don\'t see him repeating this big number this year and he\'ll probably get 25 pts less than big Joe.
