Hey guys, I am up next to pick in my keeper (see sig. at bottom) and I love to turn to this community when I have second thoughts about a particular selection.
I've narrowed down the list of guys I can potentially select down to 6. Without considering positions or needs on my team, I just want to best overall player here:
1) Patrick Maroon
2) Linden Vey
3) Anders Lee
4) Steve Downie
5) Radko Gudas (keep in mind, no hits in my league)
6) Andrew MacDonald

I'd say Patrick Maroon but I love Linden Vey in Vancouver as well. I think he's ready to show what he can do in the NHL. Great landing spot for him too. Maroon is probably the safer from that group though so he would be my first choice.

Man, I have a soft spot for Downie and your league counts penalty minutes and he's going to play on the Pens, so you KNOW he's going to get a quality C to play with. The guy has some seriously underrated puck skills and could (I stress could) put up some big numbers, mostly penalty minutes, but if he can scam on to the 2nd PP unit, he can show some of his offensive abilities.
After Downie, I would lean heavily towards Lee.

I'd go Lee, he seems to be in the best situation on a great up and coming team. Maroon is a solid second choice, but I'd lean towards Lee

Massive injury risk, inconsistent offense, and nowhere near guaranteed of playing with Crosby or Malkin... Just wondering why you think he's the clear choice? I do like Downie, and he's had some solid stretches as a valuable multi-cat guy, but they never last.Originally Posted by Shoeless

I am torn between Lee and Maroon myself. Downie was interesting but I did not peg him in the top 6 so his value fell IMO. If I knew he was in the Pens' top 6 plans, it changes everything; he becomes my guy. Lee is intriguing just because he played incredibly well in his short tenure last year. Same for Maroon... Oh boy...
