I don't see anything there at all. Where was this rumour coming from?
But what would the Oilers have that the Islanders need? Their primary need is a defenseman. I don't see the marriage, unless a left winger to play with JT is in the mix. Anyone else see this materializing into something real?

Over at Spectors. There isn't much more than this so I'm sure it's pure speculation from the originator, given that they need a center and the Isles need to move one. However, I think any move will bring in a defenseman first.
EDMONTON JOURNAL: Jonathan Willis observes New York Islanders forward Josh Bailey has been linked to the Oilers as a possible option to address their need for a center. While Willis believes Bailey wouldn’t be a bad option for the Oilers, he’d prefer if they instead pursue Brock Nelson, provided the Isles are willing to part with him.
Edit: I've also heard Nielsen and Donovan's names being tossed around too. Nielsen makes more sense as he would certainly bring in a better haul and probably had his career year last season.

Has Bailey ever even played a game at center at NHL-level? Isn't he a winger - atleast these days?

I know he is percieved as a two way forward but he was also on a bad team and his lack of experience at center worries me.
If the Oilers acquired him and moved him to center I'm sure it'd take at least half a season to adapt, especially considering I don't think he'd get easy minutes.

Nielsen would be much more of an option you would think. Might as well just run with Arcobello instead of Bailey.
Bailey is a legit NHL'er (MUCH better than Arcowhatever). He is a good player who has been terribly mishandled by Capuano and the Isles. He played centre for his first 4 years in the league (the last two he has bounced around a lot, but has mostly played wing). I don't see a fit here, though... the Isles need defense and the Oilers have none to spare.
I dont see Bailey as a fit for the Oilers at 2C. Sure he played center a few years in NYI but his best hockey was played when he was moved to the wing. I dont see a reason to lose assets to bring him in when he's probably no better at 2C than Arcobello is, and Arcobellos contract is a lot cheaper.
If the Oilers could score Nelson or Nielson from NYI, then that would make more sense and certainly be a better fit for what they need.

just an edmonton writer with too much time on his hands speculating .
oilers need a real second line centre
One day I will quit fantasy hockey, today is not that day.
Bailey is more proven, and yes, likely a better player.
Though it's clear you don't have much of an understanding of Arcobello since you dismiss him by calling him Arcowhatever in a Don Cherry way.
The guy did absolutely everything asked of him last season, was physical on the ice, played well defensively, and when Gagner was out and he was lined up with skilled players, was a point per game. He's basically taken the Martin St Louis path of development. He won't be as good as him obviously (few are no matter how they developed) but the guy absolutely destroyed the AHL last season, has all sorts of good underlying numbers, and should be given a chance to see if he can keep it up beyond the small sample size of games he was given last season.
Will he fade away into a career AHL player? Yeah maybe. However, he has shown that he can play all over the lineup with the Oilers and that's a huge thing for a guy like him. He's also shown chemistry with the young guys at both the AHL and NHL level, and they have come out talking about how much they like playing alongside him.
And the kicker? He won't cost you a single asset to slot into the lineup, unlike Bailey, who I don't believe would be worth trading for.
I think Frans Nielsen would be fantastic with the Oilers.

Why would the Oilers do this?
