This is my 2nd yr in my first fantasy football league. My team isn’t very good, a bunch of pickups pretty much. My team is literally the poster-boy for not being late to a draft and letting it autodraft for you. We keep 6 or 7 players, if you keep 7 you forfeit your 1st redraft pick (first pick is the 7th round). It’s with friends and they keep asking me to trade with them because they have 8 keepers and want to do a 2 for 1 with me. Most people are interested in Brees. Here’s my team with their “Projected Overall Ranks” maybe by Yahoo.
Player Projected Rank Drew Brees NO - QB 22 Jarrett Boykin GB - WR 155 Michael Floyd Ari - WR 62 Rod Streater Oak - WR 213 Zac Stacy StL - RB 16 Rashad Jennings NYG - RB 41 Julius Thomas Den - TE 35 Ray Rice Bal - RB 68 Hakeem Nicks Ind - WR 102 Steven Jackson Atl - RB 75 DeAngelo Williams Car - RB 108 Tim Wright TB - TE 178 Jacob Tamme Den - TE 1748 Golden Tate Det - WR 73 Matt Bryant Atl - K Steven Hauschka Sea - K New Orleans NO - DEF Chicago Chi - DEF
how many teams are we talking about here and what kind offers are you getting for Brees
Sorry guys should have known to add more info. H2H, 12 teams I believe (not everyone has accepted the invite back into the yahoo league), weekly lineups, Start QB, WR, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, W/R/T, K, Def.
Points:
Passing – 25yrds per point, 4pts per TD, -2 INT, -1 Sacks
Rushing – 10 rush yards per point, 6pts per TD,
Reception - 1pt per reception, 10 yards per point (reception), 6 pts per TD
-1 on fumbles, -2 on fumbles lost
One friend has offered Wes Welker for my 5th round pick.
Another has expressed interest in Brees since day 1 and his WR are Gordon (haha), AJ Green, Vincent Jackson, Bowe, Stevie Johnson, Randall Cobb. RB are Pierre Thomas, MJD, and McCoy.
Funny, he offered me Gordon and Jackson for Brees and Rice like 2 weeks into last yr. Kinda glad I didn’t take it.

i am not moving Brees unless i am getting AJ or Shady
i might move him for Jackson if i were getting a good young QB coming back my way as well
if you can't get real value for Brees, and i don't think you will, i would make the deal for Wes Welker and keep Drew Brees, Zac Stacy, Rashad Jennings, Steven Jackson, Wes Welker and Michael Floyd
i would also be open to keeping Julius Thomas and giving up your first round pick
Who do you mean by Shady? Again, I'm not really a football guy.
Here's a couple of other teams:
Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson, Eric Decker, Reggie Bush, Frank Gore, Matt Ryan, and Gronk.
Newton, Hilton, DeSean Jackson, Le’Veon Bell, DeMarco Murray, J. Graham, Peterson.
Manning, Charles, Cordarrelle Patterson, Alfred Morris, Witten, Hartline, Crabtree

McCoy is Shady, sorry about that
Oh ok. thanks. And you'd take Floyd over rice? I don't need to pick my keepers till September, so his trial and all that should be done by then. But you think Floyd will do better than rice?
Just tough to let him go cause he was my 1st pick (by the computer tho)
yeah Floyd over Rice for me
depth wise they probably project similarly within their positions but since you are already keeping 3 other RBs Rice would be a bench player
Floyd on the other hand would be a roster player for you
i suppose and argument could be made Rice vs Steven Jackson
Both were massive disappointments for me last yr. A healthy White and Jones may open it up more for healthy Jackson. Also a healthy Rice would be nice to see for once because the way he ran/what people were saying was he could have been dealing with a back issue all year.
On the teams listed above, would a Rice + Brees for 2 players be done? I see the QB position as a goalie/defenseman limited keeper equivalent. Only the top guys get kept (Karlsson, Keith, Rask, and price). So I see Brees as a big asset.
the Newton owner might give you the best chance to get a decent QB back for Brees but his RB is probably more than he is willing to part with
I think I would just roll with
QB - Brees
RB - Stacy
RB - Rice
WR - Floyd
WR - Tate
TE - Thomas
and then not keep 7, but I am basing this on a couple assumptions.
1) no offense, but I assume you didn't do great last year and as such have a high pick.
2) lots of teams in your league are going to keep 7 and give up their first redraft pick.
With this strategy, if guys have 8 keepers, they are going to be dropping decent players that you are then going to have the first crack at. I'm not super optimistic abut Rice, but I am very high on Stacy (like, I think he is easily a top 12 RB, probably top 10) and Rice is a decent number 2. Golden Tate is primed for a monster year. I hate him, but he is going to be playing in single coverage opposite Calvin all year and has the lowest drop rate of any receiver over the last 3 years (timeframe not for sure, but the stat is accurate). Michael Floyd is starting to take over from Fitz and he is a great talent. Julius is a top 3 TE. Brees is a top 2 or 3 QB. You actually have a decent team on paper, and your first two picks should be good players that other teams are forced to drop. I wouldn't be looking to make a trade with Brees unless you get a great offer (such as 2 top 10 options at WR/RB).
I actually lost like 7 straight weeks (record for longest losing streak) then won 6 straight (record for longest winning streak), so I traded to improve my draft picks by the deadline, then decided to go for the playoffs once i got on a roll. So i finished 4th last out of 10 teams (sorry I did think it was 12 teams earlier). So my picks are:
The guy trading Wes Welker wouldn't be keeping him, so it's not like i couldn't obtain him in the draft. The other thing is, is Wes Welker worth me giving my 14th overall pick for and gaining the 9th round (89th overall)?
Round Overall 1 4 2 14 3 24 4 34 4 39 5 44 7 64 8 74 8 79 10 94 10 99 11 104 13 124 13 129

In my opinion no. Especially seeing as that 14 could end up being like 8-10. I assume the teams holding 1-3 will only keep 6 players. and I also assume teams holding 5-10, many if not all will keep 7 players (forfeiting their first round pick). Now if as you claim, many of those teams have 8 players that are keepers, then with your first 2 picks you could potentially be selecting players other teams wish they could keep. Personally, the 6 I listed above are my favorite 6 to keep, and then you could have 2 of the top 8 picks. That is setting up your team nicely.
I never have done this pick 5 or 6, so you bringing up the point my second round pick will really be a top 10 pick is a good point. I’ll see if I can do that pick for another person on his team maybe. The only other person on his team I like is Dez Bryant and Pierre Garcon, but I think Garcon is going to have some of his production taken by Jackson. I also don’t think He’d trade Dez Bryant for any picks (which is what he’s looking for)
