Brilliantly clean check... IF... the guy can at least see you coming.
NHL needs a similar rule to the NFL, which is "targeting a defenseless player".
Players know when an opponent can see them coming.
In this case, Abdelkader (& I'm a big fan of his game) should simply be lunging with a stick to try to get a piece of the puck.
No need for this check on a defenseless player.
