Some day... when we are all 80-years old... if the NHL is aiming for a 40-team NHL... Cleveland has a chance.
But that's where I think they'd fall... around late 30s - as an NHL realistic option.
With rumors of Seattle on the verge of being awarded an NHL team, is Cleveland a viable option as well?

This would be one of those "been there - done that" situations.

No. Why would Cleveland make any sense for an NHL franchise? It's a dying city, the population is almost back to what it was in the early part of the century. There are so many better options for a franchise
Unless you recently moved, the city has grown, and is continuing to grow. I agree that it was a dump, and probably still is in comparison to other cities. But the casino, a relevant Browns team, and the hypothetical NHL franchise would cause a huge boom there.
By the way, it makes no sense to refute the topic if you stopped where you said you did. So a historical look at the Barons is reason to become disgusted and stop reading? While my feelings are anything but hurt, it still doesn't add up.
I beg to differ:

Oh it's your article? sorry, didn't mean to rip on you. The phrase is "the proof is in the pudding" not "putting", that's why I stopped reading
This about sums Cleveland up. Yes, the video isn't hockey related, but it's funny nonetheless.

Didn't read the article, don't know about the city, don't know if this mentioned it at all, but why would the NHL start a franchise in Cleveland when Ohio has a team in Columbus and Pittsburgh is right next door?

Will need an owner with deep pockets - probably has a shot if NHL goes to 36+ teams. A stadium series is a good idea to start and gauge actual interest.

Here's an even funnier look at Cleveland:

And here's the sequel... The Labron James reference dates it a bit. Red Wing fans might get offended at the end.
