they are not in a cap position right now to get fair market value in return for bryzgalov.

If selanne retires (which I personally think he will) they\'ll have about 1.5 million under the cap to sign penner. Why are they so troubled?

Also, I respectfully disagree with you on bryzgalov getting good value. I think that a goalie of bryzgalov\'s age and talent with a contract just over 1.3 million, there will be plenty of interest if he is put on the trade block.

Maybe I\'m wrong, but I think there\'d be plenty of teams interested (especially since anaheim would likely just want picks and/or prospects in return since they are rather close to the cap).

you misinterpret what I mean by value. Anaheim does not have the space to pay a player of equal talent that they would receive in return. I do not think they are interested in dumping bryz\'s rather paltry salary for picks and prospects.

If they were really interested in dumping salary (the case if they trade schneider), they probably won\'t ask for much in return outside of picks and/or prospects... why should it be different if Bryzgalov were traded?

He\'s a UFA at the end of next year anyways, and they won\'t resign him (90% sure of that), so they might as well trade him while they can, for whatever they can... otherwise they\'ll lose him for nothing.
