LOL! Its true, I agree but how can one not go in and do some sort of pre-draft rankings on their own and not think of this. I think I had at least 5 guys filtered out of my pre-draft rankings (including Hernandez for obvious reasons) and I was even there for most of the draft.

For the record, I am simply happy that according to Yahoo, I didn't pooch my draft, but as for grading it, really? Based on their Avg Draft Rankings, one in which they still ranked alleged murderer Aaron Hernandez high enough to be auto-drafted. No thank you.

Yeah... the draft grades aren't necessarily solid.


Yahoo! has player predictions/projections.
However, these projections haven't necessarily modified them yet for pre-season player role changes.

For example, York Dukes was given the highest grade: A.
York Dukes is also the only team in our league to have a projected week score over 100pts.

But look at his team projections for the 2 most critical spots (RB/RB):
Lamar Miller (RB - MIA). Week 1 proj: 11.33pts. Season proj: 179.48pts.
Ryan Mathews (RB - SD). Week 1 proj: 9.80pts. Season proj: 164.58pts.

I don't know how accurate these are.
I know Miller was a fantasy draft darling early in pre-season and I'm pretty sure MIA is considering a dual-share backfield right now (w/D.Thomas).

So... we'll see.
My own team (Marsh of da Pengwins) is given a grade of C.
My 3rd WR is weak (Hartline)... with only 113.41pts projected. But I don't really care, since my 3rd WR slot is a position that I foresee streaming every week based on match-ups. If I can grab a WR projected for 8pts every week, that's 8x17 = 136pts projected over the season. In other words, equivalent to a Antonio Brown/Lance Moore type production. IMO, the one position that can be easily improved every year is the last WR slot. Guys like Crabtree, Cecil Shorts, Randall Cobb... they pop up every year.

I've also got the Jacksonville D rostered right now (Week 1, Home vs. KC).
Jacksonville is pegged for a full season projection of just 84pts.
If I wanted to roster Washington, projected for 128pts... that would be a 44pt spike to my team projections... probably elevate my draft grade to C+ or B-.

Same for Megatron (D+). He's got the TB-D rostered/drafted. Not good for full season, but OK for Week 1 match-up vs. NYJ. Megatron doesn't have a kicker rostered. No kicker = no projected points. That's why he gets a D+, as computed by statistics. But as soon as he rosters a kicker, I guarantee his projection in standings goes from 2-11-0 to about 6-7-0 or 7-6-0.

The draft grades only reflect the math that Yahoo! projections have built-in.
They miss practical strategy like streaming, that can add value.
And they also deduct where a team is currently showing weakness (say, no rostered Kicker) that might easily be fixed.
