    Default Benn vs Pacioretty

    Straight up...Paches or Benn

I have another owner who has Paches and I have Benn and I know he would overpay for him.

Who would you prefer and why?
    Points only pool - H2H - Dress 11/week - 2 at every forward position(RW, LW, C), 4 D, 1G
Goalie Points = 2/win, 1/overtime loss, 3 more/shutout (They typically make up most of the top 10 point getters every year in our league)

24 teams but 2 of every player (2 Crosbys, 2 Rasks, etc.) so treat it like a 12 team.

PROTECT 11 (max. roster size is 25)

LW - Benn, Pacioretty, Henrique, Abdelkader, Pulkkinen
    C - Tavares, Backstrom, Johansen
RW - Giroux, Wheeler, Donskoi, Pomminville, Silvferberg
D - Josi, Karlsson, Burns, Seabrook, Reilly, Gardiner,
    G - Jones, Rinne, Miller

Most people are going to say Benn so I would argue that he has the higher 'perceived' value but in terms of fantasy production they're basically carbon copies of one another...you'll get consistent 65-75 pt production out of them, top line minutes, PP time, etc. So yeah, you'll be able to get more value for Benn but production-wise it's a wash.

Only thing I'll note is that Benn takes quite a few faceoffs so if your league counts those that clearly gives him and edge

    Benn + 2nd + 6th + Wheeler + Smith for Rinne + Patches + Ryan

    he may bite

I like Benn just a tad more, but it's fairly close as Mcgoo said.
Hockey Pools? Too many to mention. Points only, salary cap and dynasty.

I think this one just comes down to preference. I prefer max pac. Really, it's a toss up, but I love patches' playing style and love knowing that if he gets injured, he'll pull an ironman and be back the next game.

In a points only I'd take Benn, he's the more likely of the two to start hitting 80+. If there were SOG then Pacioretty is a monster.

I own MaxPac in my Points/Only Goal Heavy league AND I probably would NOT deal him for Benn if offered straight up. I am not a fan of the Habs so I would listen to offers even though I really like everything about Pacioretty's game. I would have to really like the player coming back to me.

Benn is a step up from MaxPac in my eyes.

Straight points, I`d take Benn. While their numbers are pretty close, Benn is the sexier name and will have more trade value (in my opinion). I know a few Habs fans that aren`t exactly in love with MaxP, which I also find quite odd.

I also like his centre (Seguin) a lot more than whoever MaxP will be playing with...

Neither does Price or Galchenyuk, but I haven't encountered a Habs fan that isn't in love with those two guys.

I wonder what they'll think of the anglophone, Beaulieu?

Odds are they put up the same basic points. I like Benns top end. But patches may ride galchenyuk to 80+ as well.

If you have a gut feeling go with it.

Or do what I would do and try and grind out patches +

it's weird because EVERYONE makes such a huge deal out of that, and in particular the folks in Montreal! The media circus, the talking heads, the bloggers and sadly even the team management caters to it and it's just so stupid. 95% of Habs fans (anglophones and francophones) don't care if the entire team is from Zimbabwe if it gets us to the cup again. Is it nice to have a couple quebecois on the roster? sure absolutely, but it shouldn't be a requirement so unless you're gonna sign the next Turgeon or Damphousse then just stfu y'know? lol
