lol nice thread.
Filatov is definately one that comes to mind. I was so high on him. Zherdev too, wow!
A player that I'm currently massively high on is Andrei Vasilevski. I think he's the best goaltending prospect since Carey Price.

grammar Nazi
Noun
(slang, idiomatic) 1. A person who habitually corrects or criticizes the language usage of others, especially in situations where it is unnecessary, e.g. an informal conversation.
Notes: This behavior is almost always found in people with very low I.Q's, whom have a very low sense of self worth. Impotence is also commonly linked to Grammar Nazi's.

Gustav Nyquist is a bit of a proud accomplishment for me. A player I feel like I "discovered" before anyone was talking about him and he's developing into a true fantasy asset.
Other names that come to mind over the years, for various reasons...some big hits, some big misses lmao...
Derek Stepan
David Backes
Matt Martin
Wayne Simmonds
Jonathan Quick
James Reimer
Sergei Bobrovsky
Ben Bishop
Cody Eakin
Joacim Eriksson
Erik Haula
Dmitry Kugryshev (no idea why I was so high on him but he was virtually untouchable!)
Josh Hennessy
Niclas Bergfors
Martin Hanzal (Thought he was the next Forsberg for some reason)
Vladimir Mihalik
Brett Sonne
Right now I'd say the biggest one is Vladimir Tarasenko. He's the one guy I've had absolutely zero success rate in all of my leagues in acquiring.
I've had multiple offers on Brendan Smith, Ryan Ellis and Stefan Elliott, which I considered 'hands-off'. Once considered future offensive d-men 'stars', I hope they will turn it around.
And I traded to get Pulkkinen two years ago...will he ever be the legit NHL goal scorer I hoped he become?
And I used my mid 1st rounder (somewhat off the board pick according to fellow GMs) of last year to get Collberg as I have/had high hopes on him.

Ick...backsliding on one of my first. Just added Brule in a fairly deep salary league.
I've had a crush on Rattie & Etem.
I've had a crush on J Schultz but it's no longer a crush and more "true love" since I'm keeping him.
I still have Rattie and Etem stashed on the farm although I'l be losing Etem this year because he's played more than 35 NHL games. I'll hold on to Rattie for a bit longer until he crushes me.
I took Grimaldi high too. Probably because Corey Pronman spoke so highly of him for years.
Recently, I'm high on Elias Lindholm.....we'll see how that works out.

Stefan Elliott!! That being said, I traded him because I'll trade just about anybody not named Crosby.
Spent my first 5 or 6 years of keeper pools chasing every Leafs prospect under the sun only to end up with a drop list featuring such studly prospects as Robbie Earle and Jeremy Williams!!
Filatov is a good one for sure! I was pretty excited when he was coming to Ottawa, didn't last long.
I liked Kuznetsov too. I think because he's the touted prospect who hasn't come over yet. Like the girl who plays hard to get! HA. So he's been sitting in my keeper team for sometime as a prospect! Also, because he's older now, there's that slim hope he just walks in as super star!

A guy that I would not move because of a ''crush'' and that turned out very good was Jonas Hiller. I had drafted him as a free agent back in 2007-08 when he was called up in Anaheim. Giguere's owner at that time wanted him desperately for a handcuff... I think he had offered me crap at first but when he saw I would not budge, he had put up a very good package for a little-to-not known backup and I had stood my ground...
However, a ''crush'' that I should not have held on to was Frolik... What a loss; fantasy-wise!

Toffoli and Trouba for me right now.
Before that Justin Faulk.
Before that Blake Wheeler.
Before that Voracek and Ennis.
Funnily enough I traded Voracek, Ennis and Faulk very shortly after drafting them but it gained me a couple of titles so whatever. I'm always really big on players who show high energy, no quit motors and who couple that with quick puck decisions and driving the net.

For me it's Zach Bogosian. He's established himself as a solid NHLer but is still a fantasy prospect in that he's never really lived up to his promise. I can't get past it yet either.
I like to think of my dealings and management style as almost entirely dispassionate, but Bogosian seems to be the exception.
