TLDR; he's a clear cut stud playing with a bevy of elite offensive talent -- the only "rub" on him is his ability to stay healthy. The fact is he eats too many hard minutes (something Subban is protected from at the moment), and that certainly affects his ability to remain healthy.
Personally I think Letang got off easy because it's a shortened season. I would treat him like more of a 60 game guy each season.

Despite the offensive potential when he's healthy, I just can't stand having guys like that on my roster... it completely throws off my ability to organize and plan my short-term and long-term strategies.

Karlsson was averaging almost 5 SOG per game (lots of games with 7 or 8 shots) and would have dominated that cat over a full season..

Yes, that's where Karlsson (with Byfuglien close behind) will always have a huge edge on other Dmen, in leagues that count SOG. he's been ramping up nicely, two years ago he finished with 182 in 75 games, last year he totalled 261 in a full season, and this year he was on pace for a ridiculous 382. The kid comes back from that awful Achilles injury in 10 weeks, and his first two games back he fires 8 and 7 SOG, respectively. And I'd be willing to bet half or more of those SOG were at ES, it's not just a PP thing.

Right now, I wouldn't trade Karlsson for anyone in the league, even the big 3/4.

Was surprised a bit by Doughty's final numbers. Solid though unspectacular across the board.
Byfuglien and Subban up at the top doesn't surprise me , but Yandle there definitely does.... wtf.

Hello Mr Chara and Weber...where were you this year?

Interestingly in a league where SOG, PIM's, hits are counted then FPG ranks Chara at 19th and Weber at 21st in terms of skater value in the league.

I think if Weber was ever a buy low, it is right now.

As with the previous point about Weber being a buy-low option right now, I'd say the same about Zdeno Chara. With his age, and the anomaly of a regular season he had, he is a prime candidate to acquire this offseason in your keeper pools.

He's got at least 3-4 elite seasons left, maybe more because of what his size / shot allows him to do without incredible mobility. His conditioning is also ELITE.

Grab him while you have the chance, people.

Speaking of Chara I own him, Letang, Phaneuf, Byfuglien and Burns in a keeper league (play 6D weekly) that counts hits, bs, pims and usual offensive stats.

(Actually also owned Green, Suter, and Yandle too but traded them during season).

We only get 12 keepers, so using it on 4 or 5 dmen isn't feasible.

how should I rank them to see who I can trade for picks or a keeper upgrade? Burns still ranked last even with D eligibility next year?

Let me ask this, with the understanding that I'm a big Subban fan...

How does a full season from Markov affect Subban's play this year? I'm of the opinion that it was a massive factor in Subban's offensive numbers, etc.

But I also think the chance of Markov having a nearly-full season again is almost zero. So does PK continue to score at that level (or close to it), or does he drop significantly if/when Markov is out?

I don't think the drop will be significant, maybe 10 points max. Which in Subban's case is not too shabby. 38 in 42 with Markov pro-rates to roughly 70 points. I'll gladly take a 60 point Subban without Markov.

    A few things though.

    - He matched his previous best in 35 less games.
    - His previous best was without Markov in '10/'11.
    - In '11/'12 he got 36 points in 81 games without Markov.
    - This was only his 4th season.
    - Montreal has a good system that allows him to play his style.
    - Players like Subban are hard to come by, and harder to get rid of

Personally, I don't think his fantasy hockey value (or actual hockey value) will suffer in the slightest if Markov trips on his shadow in the off-season.

I'm a Subban owner so this post is completely biased. I am also an Honourary Habs fan, take that as you wish

Haha, Chara. 19 points in 48 games in the regular season and now six in five playoff games so far. What a tease.
