sounds like tarasenko will have to be traded from SKA to another team if he is to play in the KHL during the lockout... maybe Peoria is an option after all...

Vladimir Tarasenko has signed with SKA St. Petersburg. Tarasenko came to North America to play in the NHL this season, but obviously that won't happen as long as there's a lockout. He had the option of playing in the AHL, but it looks like he'll instead return to the KHL for now.

@andystrickland: Part of deal Vlad Tarasenko was asking for from #KHL club included the right to leave for #AHL before end of #NHL lockout #stlblues
nice. some time in the ahl is probably better for him anyways. learn the smaller ice, learn the language a little more.... then, when the lockout settles, he can win rookie of the year and help the blues on their cup run....

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but I managed to snag tarasenko with the second to last pick of my draft, I want to drop a right wing for a goalie, would you keep tarasenko over havlat, hemsky, or neil? Thinking of dropping one of these guys if vlad is going to make an impact. PIMs count and it's a keeper league. I've heard very good things about him but don't know if he's got the type of game to succeed at a young age in the NHL. Any thoughts are appreciated thanks.
like most all rookies, he will likely take a few years to put it all together.
what he has going for him is a boatload of talent, a great work ethic, a desire to improve, a coachable personality, a team in need of a gamebreaker and four years experience against men in a top league... without knowing the specifics of your league and just looking at the players mentioned, i would easily take tarasenko over those aging bandaid boys and goon...

Yeah it was a good read, my thanks as well. I find the Blues to be such a fascinating (or frustrating) team to analyze from a fantasy hockey perspective. Other than Backes in a multicat league and Pietrangelo in any league - there are about 10 other players with the potential to be serious contributors on fantasy teams but calling them right in a draft or a trade isn't so easy - Oshie, McDonald, Steen, Perron, Stewart, Halak, Elliott, Shattenkirk, Tarasenko - what are they really going to do in a season. Scoring by committee is the safe call but I can imagine one or two of these breaking out from that.
Came across this news in Fantrax:
Al MacInnis and Sergei Zubov in the staff. That's two great mentors for Pietrangelo and Shattenkirk.Sergei Zubov has joined the St. Louis Blues as a consultant to hockey operations. Zubov had 152 goals and 771 points in 1,068 career games with the New York Rangers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Dallas Stars. He also won the Stanley Cup as a member of the Rangers in 1994 and then again with the Stars in 1999.

interesting. thought perron would play with berglund. they must be counting on stewart to turn his game around this year.
that leaves berglund w/ stewart and either dagostini (likely) or schwartz (not likely).
