Default Lockout meetings - reason for optimism?

Call me an optimist, but I'd say that these "secret" meetings going on in Toronto yesterday and this weekend (over the phone) are a great sign.

No posturing, no BS, no press releases. The media didn't even find out until after they had met.

Apparently a lot of the owners (not the all-mighty powers like Jeremy Jacobs) are po'd about the lockout and don't want to miss any hockey - especially with so much money on the table.

Optimist in me hopes so. Realist doesn't want to get hopes up and then crushed

It's at least a positive in that they're talking. No cameras, no press conferences gets all the distracting BS out of the way so real work can be done.

I was thrilled to hear about these meetings. I think this is definitely a good sign. Too bad the first two weeks have already been cancelled, but hopefully the lockout won't go beyond that.

My gut tells me there will be a resolution to this. Looking at the #'s that have been released to media, the gap isnt as far as most think. It was worse last time.

The reason why I am a bit optimistic is because if one side is coming in ready to cave in a bit they wouldn't be running to the media to announce it ahead of time.

Makes sense. Owner's love making money, but hate losing it.
