It's an excellent deal from a salary cap point of view... When he scores 40 goals, which I'm optimistic about, 4.5 millions will look ridiculously cheap. I hope Michel Therrien keeps Patches and Desharnais together because their chemistry is so evident on the ice. Both have room to evolve, especially together.

Great deal, and good for the Habs for locking down a cornerstone player long-term.
As I said in the Habs thread, if he continues like this going forward and can build on last season this is a great deal for the Habs.
Wow, just wow, great great signing by Bergevin. But you know, it doesn't surprise me at all that Max signed for this amount, he clearly wants to be in Montreal long-term and is already contributing heavily to the community.

Still amazed at the chemistry that Pacioretty-Desharnais-Cole had.
They had 13-20-14 PPPs respectively, which is on the low-side...and still managed to get 65-61-60 points. Toss in a healthy Markov to help that powerplay out and wowzas.
Yeah that Desharnais/Pacioretty combo has been killer ever since that last great season of Max's in the AHL.
I am completely torn because I'll probably have to drop Desharnais, I have 4 other cmen ahead of him, including Derek Roy, but something tells me Desharnais may outpoint Roy going forward.

I am far from a Habs fan but I must say I like what Bergevins has done since being hired (other then Therrien as coach but thats a different story). Great draft for the Habs and some real quality signings in the off seasons. They are certainly heading in the right direction.

That they certainly did, and the end results shows just that. IMO they their draft class this year was certainly one of, if not THE best for this years compared to the other teams.
