To me the risk with Crosby is the same as it is with Markov. Sure he's fine right now, but you can't simulate real NHL games and the grind of the schedule.

Well, dont forget that the last time he missed games was not because of his concussion. So it's good news. I dont like Crosby much tbh but i dont like either when something bad happens to a player and out for so long
Honestly, what you are going to hear from EVERY Crosby owner over the next year or two is "He is symptom free and dominant as ever. He is healthy again and I don't expect him to have any setbacks... Now, this is the offer. My Crosby for your Kovalchuk, Lundqvist, Tavares, Yakupov and a 1st round pick."
What you are going to hear from every NON-Crosby owner over that same time is "Yes, he is the best player in the world, but he is one stiff breeze away from a career ending injury and I am very concerned about that. How about my Brad Richards and a 3rd for Sidney?"
What I expect will happen, is that he will be relatively injury free and will dominate the league for the next 10 or 12 years (I am a Crosby owner, so by my own rationale, I have to think like this). It will take a year or two of league dominance before the Crosby owners and the Non Crosby owners can start to agree on what he is worth.

Totally agree. As an owner you need to accept the ups and downs of any player whether it be from injury or just a crappy season. To know you have a player who can easily put up 100+ points in a given season makes it easier to own a HIGH risk/reward player. It's just easier to own him than it is to aquire him.

I understand that health is a touchy matter, and one NEVER knows. With that said, his last bout was with concussion "like" symptoms that were recurring, was due to soft-tissue damage in his neck that went untreated, as most know. Since that surgery was done, he hasn't had those symptoms return. Not making light of a neck injury, but i'll take my chances with his neck issue over what many thought was another concussion. Still the same, it's good news for hockey.
