    Default Picks in '12 or '13?

    For a points only, keep 12, 14 team salary cap league (65 mil). Going to tear it down and start trading for picks, I keep hearing about the depth of the '13 draft, but there are still some high end prospect fa's available to augment the guys from the '12 draft. Typically in our pool, guys have drafted for players already in the league, excepting the elite prospects, but this will be our last year of expansion, and I suspect the shallower pool of available NHL talent will see a strategic shift in drafting this year. As well as the recent draft, all of the following are available;
    Granlund
    Tarasenko
    Strome
    Schwartz
    Kreider
    Nyquist
    Bartschi
    Schultz
    Hamilton
    Given that, would you make your move for this draft, or the next? Thanks in advance.

    Go for this draft. Compared straight up, the 2013 draft may end up being better than the 2012.....but that's said every single year about the next year's draft, so we'll see. At this time last year the 2012 draft was supposed to be the best since 2003 and now all of a sudden it's seen as one of the weakest in recent memory.

    That being said, there are some very good, high-end players available in the 2012 pool. Add in the studs you listed above who are 2+ years ahead in development, and the current draft will be far and away better for you.
