Ya, I get the "we need to get all the points we can" but to not even give Jones a night off vs SJS is shocking. They had like 3 shots at an easy matchup and they chose not to take it.

It's surprising to me since they had those chances to see what Hildeby can be, and if you can rely on him as an option if there's more injuries. This was a big opportunity to see if they need to add depth goaltending at the deadline or not.

If the Leafs aren't planning on Samsonov being relied upon, Hildeby is your 3rd stringer.

I also hate the NHL schedule for the Leafs. They play Florida 3 times, and two of them were in a 6 week period, then it's a 16+ weeks until their final game and it's the 2nd last game of the season on the front end of a B2B. Then it's the reverse with Tampa, they play twice in the final 2 weeks (last game of the season, 2nd game of a B2B even...), and the first game was in mid-October. They play Boston 4 times, 2 of them are over 4 days in March...

Just looking at the teams in front of them and thinking "it feels like we haven't played them at all this yr"

For me, if what you say is true about Samsonov potentially starting in one of the B2B, why not run out Hildeby instead. Can he be any worse than what Samsonov has been so far? Maybe, but I'd at least be willing to give him a look to find out. Putting Samsonov back in the net is NOT the answer at this point. He hasn't even played an AHL game yet, only one practice with them, from what I am reading.

Apparently it doesn't confirm that he'll get any game time, and the move has more to do with Hildeby getting minutes with the Marlies...which is even more confusing.

And Jones already confirmed to start tomorrow v Isles. I’m going to guess Jones gets the big Avs game Saturday and they give Sammy another shot on Sunday v Wings.

Samsonov played pretty well considering what he's done this yr.

I don't know what is going on with this team. It's annoying.

Keefe is just trying anything right now. And I don't know why you would make some of the line choices now. I guess he's at his wits end and is just trying anything. Now they get to travel out West again and face 2 teams that don't lose right now.

Watch out for a Hyman hat trick on Tuesday lol.

How long can Jones hold this shaky team together? He’s starting to fade a bit and the D (McCabe ugh) looks tired, except Riley. It’s conceivable that they can be out of a playoff spot by the end of the week. Tavares looks slower as each game passes.

Their schedule gets significantly harder in the 2nd half. The Athletic did a half season comparison this year compared to last and the Leafs have gone down in just about every important statistic. They are just not as good as they were last year and that cap space they had last offseason was not spent wisely.

Very true. Maybe they can just squeak into the playoffs and win a round or two. Probably just wishful thinking since I just don’t see this squad getting to round 2. Plus teams tend to tighten up in the second half of the season.
