Ya, I can't remember exactly what the tone was when he sign his current contract, but it feels kind of the same with conflicting reports from the same reporter about leaving money on the table.
Matthews would be dumb to sign over 5yrs the way the cap should trend. He'll have made $60,970,000 by the time his deal is done. Add another 13x5 ($65m) minimum, and he'll have made $125,970,000 by he's 30yrs old. So anyone who says "oh he needs to sign 8yrs for security" isn't thinking that he's already got that security lol.
