Engvall been ok this year but he has disappeared in every playoff series so far...dont mind if he isnt on the roster

Guys I wouldn't be opposed too getting:
- Garland to replace Kerfoot
- Chychrun but likely not for the price that's out there
- Meier
- ROR for CHEAP. Like swoop in last minute and get him real cheap level.
- Tarasenko for cheap
- Labanc (with SR).

It does sound like Toronto will prioritize defensemen with their trade assets, but the Leafs need some PP help, 3rd line center FW help, and PK help if you move out Kerfoot/Engvall.

At this point, I believe Vancouver would happily flip Garland for Kerfoot straight up to get out of the contract. Garland is a solid player, just not what the Canucks needs right now. This would be one of those impactful moves that dont 'cost' you alot other than dollars/commitment

Garland isn't half the defender Kerfoot is. Nor is he as good a player. And 1.45M more per year a cash strapped team like Tor (hopefully) wouldn't repeat Canucks mistakes. If Van hates the contract, why would the Leafs like it?
Eww... stay away. Tyler Bertuzzi is 200k cheaper & a UFA. With the "Core Four" all coming up over the next couple years for contracts committing 4 years to Garland at 5m is a horrible move.

Only way i see kerfoot going in a trade is if it is to land a Meier or ROR and make cap space. Beyond a splash like that Keefe values his versatility too much. All 4 lines, all 3 positions, PP, PK. Production isn't there this year but he's reliable over the full 200ft.

Might as well put Chychrun & Meier together. if they make a splash it is for one or the other. I think the bigger hole is on the wing. So likely will look for more of a deal on D.

ROR for cheap... There will be a sizeable market. Will drive the price up. I really think Adam Henrique is a great cheap(er) option - but they will only land one larger fish.

Braun, Schenn - something like that I figure will be their D addition.

I think there's several cheaper (4.75m - yikes) Labanc type players available this year - Lafferty, Duclair, Barbashev, Comtois, -- All half the cost of Labanc & probably similar cost to acquire.

I also wonder if David Perron might be a name that appears on the trade bait board over the next couple of weeks. $4.75m - one year remaining.

Put me in the camp that wants the Leafs to keep Engvall and continue to nurse his development along. 218 career games, 6'5" 215lbs.

The way he's playing this year... his next contract should be very similar. If they can lock him in for 3x2.75 or less - do it.

I'm pumped for Steeve's to get a shot. big fan of this kid. Wish they had called him up over McMann (& McMann has been decent to good)

Garland and Labanc I don't want at their cap, but if salary is retained then I'm for it. xGA/60 is 1.867 for Kerfoots last 20 games, Garland is 2.5285 for his last 20 games. 2 very different built teams and deployments too. So I guess it depends if other teams think Garland at 3-3.5m is worth it (1.45-1.95m retained). But then you need to convince Vancouver to retain like 5m over 3.25yrs. lol.

Ya I hope Steeves gets a good shot the next couple of games. And Wolf getting a game this weekend! Can't wait for that.

Also Dubas likes addressing 2 problems with one trade so McCabe and Lafferty would fit the Dubas mold.

They would either treat Meier as a rental, but move him for something in the offseason. Or move Nylander, to sign Meier.

with Holl i almost wish they played 7 D and play him 7-8 minutes a night at PK and maybe some defensive faceoffs...he is pretty good without the puck...problem starts when he gets it!

If Holl holds the puck for more than 2s, the possibility of a catastrophic failure exponentially skyrockets. You can see him start to not want the puck too, but freezes in fear lol.

Holl to me is the most average defensive defenseman who impressed the right Head Coaches with playing defense a way no one on the team would do...block shots and get dirty. Bounced up from ECHL ranks because he was different from others on the team, and made his way to the NHL based on that. You kept thinking "he can be a top 4 if he is becomes avg at moving the puck", and last yr was that yr. This yr he's fallen off, and it's snowballed badly. Kinda like the inverse of Gardiner.

Holl will be a nice signing for someone this offseason.

And I think Friday is the 3 week mark. So he's a couple of days before that, but crazy it was "3 weeks min" but it's really 2.5 weeks lol.

Emergence of Lili helps too...and while he still got some demons, i think Sandin is taking steps forward too just not very quickly...and If Timmins could stay healthy, you got 3 young guys capable to play anywhere from 3-6 and you can argue that Lili could slot into 2nd slot some nights, and he has actually. I dont mind the defensive crop, im of the opinion that they need to add power LW....obviously Meier be great but i think you could get someone like Bertuzzi or Coruse for much less...the kid from ST Luis too (forgot the name and too lazy to check.

I also am curious how strong Carlo Colaiacovo's sources are because he said yesterday that P.Kane would waive his NTC to only NYR and Leafs. He has yet to indicate that's something he'd do, but if Toronto can take advantage of the situation.... I dunoooooo.
