Bottom six is meh. Most of the D is meh. God thing Samsonov has played well or this team could be in real trouble. This is not a championship team today.

Hope you’re right. Their penalty kill last night was just so bad. Very few players are hustling or working for loose pucks. I wonder about a trade to get a little better on the back end. Agree - Holl looks terrible. The game is to fast for everything about him.

Holl is...ugh. Watch him, with a little pressure he gets rid of the puck by just going up the boards. Which, is ok, until you realize he doesn't look before he does it. He just throws it up the boards regardless of who's there or not. The guy doesn't think, he relies on muscle memory EVERY time he gets pressured. Then once the puck is turned over, he can't recover fast enough because again he doesn't think, he's defending off muscle memory. He should be limited to 3rd pairing minutes with penalty killing. He's saved by his ability to block shots, shoot righty, and his $2m cap hit.

Holl reminds me of Marincin somehow. He plays the same role, but on the right side. However, Holl tries to do more, and gets more minutes which reduces his overall ability because he's stretched too thin.

I keep saying he could win the Stanley Cup for the Leafs and I still hate him. I'm irrational at this point with him. But I know his value from a cap perceptive, and I get he is needed by the Leafs. But the guy is a 3rd liner. He needs less minutes. However, the Leafs can give his minutes to anyone right now. Liljegren needs to come back, but it's not like he was better last yr when given more minutes. If Toronto can get Chychrun, it helps a lot, but I don't want to spend the 2 1sts+prospects price tag for him.

I've only seen the season opener so far so not a large sample size, but what's up with AM34? Just bad luck or is he squeezing the stick too tight?

I'd say bad luck. His shooting % is waaay down so far. None of the Leafs are scoring at any rate 5 on 5 so far this year.

Matthews was mm's away from scoring a goal last night but Logan Thompson somehow kept it out. It's bad luck, and the flood gates should open. However, I have yet to see him unleash one of his patented shots regardless of it going in or not, which is odd.

Matthews is a little off for sure right now, he is missing the net way too much. He definitely has gotten robbed multiple times in recent games which wont help matters. hes certainly capable of scoring a hatty in b2b games and making us look stupid for doubting him tho haha

On the positive side, theyre still 4-3 with AM and MM not really playing all that well. Samsonov has been good, NRobertson looks useful out there, Tavares has been good. If this is the 'bottom' then theyll be just fine.

We gotta think that maybe teams have adjusted to AM somewhat. Obviously you can’t just flat out stop him but the hope to contain him so far has worked. But like it’s been said, he can easily go out and get on a huge goal frenzy. I have also seen his defensive game suffer a bit.

    Few IR moves:
Muzzin to LTIR - Pure cap move. He was always going to be out long term
Clifford to IR - Shoulder injury. The game vs Vegas he took a tumble into the boards at center ice. Likely from that
Liljegren IR Conditioning Stint - He played a Marlies game under a IRConditioning label and ended up getting an assist
Benn IR Conditioning Stint - He's playing under the same title as Lili

Kral Recalled - He seems to be the paper mover.

Bunting was moved to the "3rd line" with Kerfoot practicing with Matthews/Marner. Likely doesn't stick, but they're doing the line juggling.

    Kallgren starting vs SJS tonight.

After watching the extended highlights of the game, I gotta say this team is so blah right now. My friend stayed up to watch it and he said the game sucked the energy out of him through the TV because the Leafs scored 3goals, and that was really all their wow factors.

I don't get why, but why does this team "not start on time" since the Babcock era? Is it Matthews? Is it Marner? Is it the collective group? Last yr Matthews was able to take over games, however I've seen him more often take over shifts, but disappear for shifts, then come back.

SJS played the Hall and Oates song the Leafs use as their goal song after the game in their dressing room. Like, they're getting chirped by San Jose.

This team needs coke, get them unhinged lol. Something for a wakeup.

It is my prediction that a new coach will be behind the bench against Philadelphia on Wednesday. It’s not the coach’s fault, but he will take the fall and I think they’ve “stopped playing for him”…

    He was not good lol.

Matthews had a first in his career last night tho. The first time ever he took 2 minor penalties in a game. (vs LAK)
