frankly, i find it bizarre hyman is on the third line more than thornton is playing on a scoring line.

i actually think thornton would be better off on the tavares/nylander line as tavares already plays that puck retrieval style to get his skilled wingers the puck. Hyman with Matthews/Marner as they need that puck retriever style also.

I wouldve thought theyd give Mikheyev a scoring line shot before Vesey also.

This could be easily just for Game 1. Give Thornton the opening faceoff.

I found Hyman on the RW weirder than Thornton on L1. But Thornton was like top 20 in takeaways last yr playing with like Labanc and someone else (also against lesser opponents).

I can see Thornton, Simmonds, Vesey, Babarov (?), and Spezza and being rotated with Robertson getting looks too.

Thornton getting the top line, could result in the Leafs getting more powerplays too. Vet lobbying the refs on that top line for the hooks/slashes that Matthews and Marner always receive.

As a Tavares owner I am not pleased. I did not expect Nylander to keep his PP1 spot so I avoided him in drafts, I will be disappointed if Tavares loses his PP1 spot also.

We have Leafs cuts: Kenny Agostino, Joey Anderson, Justin Brazeau, Rourke Chartier, Pierre Engvall, Tyler Gaudet, Mac Hollowell, Michael Hutchinson, Teemu Kivilhalme, Timothy Liljegren, Martin Marincin, Nic Petan, Calle Rosen and Scott Sabourin.

That leaves the Leafs with a 26 player roster, which will likely be their 20-man main roster and six player taxi squad to start.


Adam Brooks staying is probably the biggest surprise.

Aaron Dell, notably, was not. So the #leafs are still carrying three goalies on the active roster.

Or Matthews or Marners. Depends how they implement the PP, but if Tavares is on PP2, you're prolly playing them at 50/50 split, which fantasy wise it isn't ideal.

Faceoff wise, Matthews and Spezza will be on the PK in the "Faceoff, Get Off" type of role.
