I agree about Burke, he must really think he can land B. Richards.

Agreed, Burke missed out here for sure.

Apparently Holmgren didn't want to trade Richards to a team in the East... can't blame him

that was one of the main things Homer wanted, he was reluctant to trade him to the East.

There was NO WAY that Homer would have considered Kulemin/Kadri over Schenn/Simmonds. NO WAY. Sure, Burke and Holmgren probably discussed each others' asking price but Kadri/Kulemin was just a starting point. The Toronto media (TSN mainly) is blowing this thing way out of proportion.

Schenn/Simmonds trumps Kulemin/Kadri. Homer likely wanted more and Burke told him to go "F his hat"

This trade was considered and then Lombardi offered his, and was almost immediately accepted.

Can't really blame Holmgren on that one. Significantly better return and he didn't have to deal with Burke's stubborn ass.

Burke's stubborness is admirable at times but at other times it's his biggest fault..

Okay, I just got off a nice phone call with my Leafs source. He gave me some good news and bad news:

The bad news is that for the next little bit, no information is really allowed to be leaked. He can give me tidbits of information, but no Playmaker-like info can be given to me, which sucks. But he did give me some little pieces of info that could be helpful:

-Earlier, he told me that the main prospects were to be kept. Now, everyone is available at the right price. Colborne is a higher priority to keep than Kadri.

-The T.J Oshie deal mentioned earlier is almost non-existent. Nothing happening on that front.

-Burke did NOT propose a trade to the Stars to land Richards.

-The Leafs and Avalanche have been in preliminary talks for the past month about Stastny and the 11th overall pick. Note the word preliminary. Basically nothing notable was going on as of last night on this front.

-Despite the recent signing, Gunnarsson is attracting a lot of attention, but Burke will only trade him for a deal that can't be refused. He is not being shopped

    - The final note he left me was with this: Burke was extremely upset with not landing Richards and Carter. But his top-tier player search is Far from over.

I'd love to see something happen today at the Draft for them. Though I'll be really bummed for my bro if Statsny goes to the Leafs. He's been dejected ever since his Avs traded his favorite in Stewart.
