Their current D is hardly old but I think it is am area that they lack in but also Andersen isn't old either... And as they've shown they don't mind being aggressive in the trade market and that forward (and cheap) depth will appeal to some
Experience is the teacher of all things.

All super questions marks. But the biggest underdog, steal of a draft has been Nielsen at 65th in 2015. He’s 6’3”, 207lbs (according to Wiki). He’s got a big shot, loves using it on the PP, he’s a team leader, physical. He’s being compared to Weber (mostly by Leaf fans I think), but also Bryce Salvador. Quite the difference lol.

    WHL Lethbridge Hurricanes
    2014-15 season:
    59GP, 7G, 17A, 24Pts, 101PIM
    2015-16 Season:
    71GP, 18G, 52A, 70Pts, 122PIM

But I think waiting till mid-way through this yr is the best thing to do to grade the Leafs second tier prospects. Guys like Nylander, Marner, and Matthews we know will be good NHL players (highly unlikely to bust). But the other guys, we just need to see another 40games to determine if they can change potential into talent.

I would say that Leafs boast some nice forwards but their overall D prospect base is lacking. Woll is a nice addition to the net however and I can see him being the starter down the road for them.

yea no doubt we're following the Oilers path of failure right now. we're still in the early stages of the rebuild so i'm not too concerned, but if we don't do anything to fix our D we'll never make the playoffs either.

as much as it would be nice to land Patrick next year, I think Liljegren should be the real target.

Doughty with Karlsson flash. That would be amazing. And considering Patrick is a Toews like player, no need for that reeeallllyyyy.

But I really don’t see Toronto getting a top 5 pick next yr.

lol what? name 5 teams they will be better than. our D is worse than Edmonton's. i think there's a better chance we finish last overall than finishing out of the bottom 5

Well, I can see in the east Buffalo (especially because Lehner’s health is in questions till), Ottawa, and the CBJ will finish below Toronto. NJD all depend on Schneider. If he’s hurt, they are last easily.

In the West, Vancouver and Colorado have a good chance at sucking. Edmonton will be around where the Leafs finish.

I can see a 6-10 pick, top 5 pick could be iffy.

    I like Auston Matthews.

Anyone think Marner will actually wear 93 this yr if he makes the team? The team gave hims #84 for the rookie camp.

I think I remember hearing Douggie saying he would be happy to see Marner wearing it (I could be making that up…) so it wouldn't surprise me to see him with it. 84 just doesn't suit him after Grabo had it last.

He’s the only leaf to wear 84 actually… never knew that.

I sure as hell hope not. The rebuild is not complete and they could use another top 3 or 5 pick to shore up the wings. I'm in it for the long haul not the usual 2 year re-tool. They either do it right or don't do it at all and we get what has been happening since '67.....nothing.
