Galchenyuk still expected to play on the top line tonight?
-Rittich in starters net at practice
-No sign of Nylander or Mikheyev. Nylander was late for a meeting so he's likely scratched tonight. Mikheyev abruptly left practice yesterday
-Holl suggests Sandin is playing tonight (likely for Bogosian)

This is ok. Get the losing streak out of the way before they face Montreal or Edmonton in round 1.
I saw on twitter someone mentioned EF hinted at the Leafs knowing Andersen is ready, but due to cap restraints they can't bring him back right now.
I don't know how far they are away from being able to bring him back, but if Bogosian is out there are 10 games left in the season (LTIR min). Curious if that happens with Sandin coming in and the Hutton acquisition. You'd be forcing a D man to play RD when Hutton, Dermott and Sandin are LD though. Then you got Hyman's injury and his $2.25mill and if he gets retro-LTIR'd he'd be first eligible to come back with 1 game left in the regular season, but again the cap issues.
So many unanswerable questions around this team. Like what's up with Mikheyev?

But the way they've been dealing with Andersen injury, it makes it sound like it's all on him to deem when he's ready. It's all about when he's actually ready if it's muscle/ligament related. Again, it's all unanswerable questions because we don't know enough info on the subjects, but I feel like if a player is understanding of the issue, Andersen can just say he's not ready.
I'm just wasting brain power though over this lol.

There's a lot of variables in play as to who they can and cannot send down to the minors/taxi squad now that the deadline has passed. The only two they can move to the minors right now is Sabourin and Robertson, and even if they moved both down, that doesn't clear enough cap to bring Freddy back.
Long and short of it, now that the Leafs have spent Andersen's LTIR money, you wont see Andersen back for the regular season even if he's healthy. What scary is they might have to roll him in the playoffs because Rittich and Campbell just arent playing well right now. And it's not like Andersen was playing well before his injury either.

They can at least AHL Conditioning stint him prior to his return. The rules behind the LTIR Conditioning stint is the player needs to consent to it, he's paid by the NHL standards, but he's not counted against the cap (I think this is insurance related though). The key is he can stay on LTIR while playing AHL games. The stint last up to 6days, and 3 games. The team can ask for an extension and the commissioner looks at it and can grant up to 2 games extension (I think this happens often).
Now looking into the Marlies though...They got some games postponed. Their next scheduled game is May 2nd with 6 games postponed before that. So their schedule could change a lot, I don't know how the AHL will tackle rescheduling games right now. But Leafs now finish May 14th, Marlies final 3 games are May11, 13, 15th. If the Leafs know they can get a 2 game extension, Andersen might end up playing AHL games starting May 8th. To note where these games are played...In Toronto except that May 15th game it's in Laval.
I wonder if the Leafs push Andersen to the AHL conditioning stint and give him the Marlies games in Toronto, not give him the May 15th @ Laval game and he's on the NHL roster on May 15th ready for the NHL playoffs. He'll at least get games, he's in Toronto, and the timeline matches up to returning to a Leafs roster post NHL season. Maybe they give him the May 14th depending on capspace accruement for the final day of the regular season (Andersen salary/game is ~$60,000 and Leafs have ~$120,000 in space I think)
Sabourin went on LTIR just now for some reason (he was seen icing his hand post fight) retroactive to April13th which allowed them to bring up Brooks and Sandin last night while having room for $377,000 in annual cap hit. Sabourin also gets NHL pay while on LTIR vs his two-way he'd get if just sent down.
Cap shenanigan's again.

its a funny season i dont have exact numbers but it was like dominance for 15, horrible 7-8 game stretch, Dominant for 8 more and now cant get a win in 5 or so....
we will see what future brings but they are a very good team and by far best they been since young kinds came to the league.
As for goal tending...funny how Campbell was the best goalie ever for 10 games....crazy how much recency bias plays role in social media...absolutely no balance...

Leafs will be just fine. They are the best team in the North. Campbell is a more than capable starter and the team loves playing for him. The chances to succeed in the playoffs are very good. The only thing the Leafs have to worry about in the post season is running into a hot goalie. Price/Markstrom and Helly can win a series. But the only team that actually scares me is the Jets and the Leafs have done well against them.
Famous last words lol
