Hamrlik v Gilbert - Rest of Year

This is a keeper league, but this decision is like a one-year league decision because I'm unlikely to keep either guy.

Our league (sig below) counts Blocked Shots, Plus/Minus and SOG among other categories. Hamrlik and Gilbert are close in all categories although Hamrlik will probably be a safer bet for plus/minus and MIGHT pick up a few more points here and there, hence my considering picking him up instead of Gilbert.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Tough call but keep in mind that Gilbert got his bell rung last night and I have not heard any injury updates yet.

Hamrlik might be safer, but I've got to hold onto Gilbert who I still believe has some upside. EDM is getting healthier up front and scoring is up as a result. With Foster often benched and Whitney out, there's no competition for ice time on the blueline and at some point you have to think Gilbert will pick up some points. At the very least, if you've held onto him this long you have to be hoping for another magical March run.

If Hamrlik does outpoint Gilbert in your pool I just can't believe it'll be by a wide enough margin to win/lose it for you. If Gilbert picks it up though, I think he could really help some of the more patient [I mean, eternally hopeful] poolies.

Gilbert is the only offensive option on the blueline in Edmonton and will probably have another strong finish. Take Gilby.

With Whitney out, I'd go with Gilbert. He's become one of their most trusted players defensively, and he'll get more blocked shots and hits throughout the year.

*Also, not to affect your decision, but Hamrlik is a douche.

Thanks guys, all very valid points, and add to that list the fact that Gilbert, if he does turn it up a notch, has much more trade value in a keeper than Hamrlik. Thanks a million.
