An important update on Malkin... he skated!

All misleading though, it was just for his photo. Some good news out of the article:

Bylsma revealed that surgeons only repaired the ACL upon discovering that the MCL wasn't damaged as severely and could heal with rest and rehabilitation.
This is great news for his recovery! Seems like they expect him to be back for training camp.

I thought I was such hot shit this year having acquired both Malkin and Crosby... only to have them both go down with season-ending injuries! I've been watching them both like a hawk ever since... the problem with that much talent consolidation is that your team gets awfully sensitive to injuries, which is bad policy.

Ahh well, live and learn... and hope for a full recovery!

I hear that! Solid depth in my pool is just as important as trying to cultivate elite point getters. For forwards I'm always on the lookout for cheap 60 point guys to mitigate the effects of the inevitable injuries to the high end talent.

I don't know bout you guys, but I will be avoiding Malkin next year.

These ligament injuries almost always linger.

You know, even after Malkin's injury, I'd still take the Malkin side. You also got Rask, a stud in the not so distant future. Good deal for you.

On if he could have come back if the team made it farther in the playoffs:
I can’t say, but I tried. Maybe if we won the second round, I might have been able to play the third round and Finals, because when I skated, it didn’t feel bad. It felt pretty strong and I think I could have played this year.

I'm glad that I kept him. I was actively shopping him a couple months ago.
