    Default Michael Leighton

I have heard rumblings about Leighton being a trade option for Philly. He is currently on the Wire in my league and it looks to have potential.

Anyone heard anything else regarding these rumours?

He isn't really a trade option as he went through waivers unclaimed. I'd watch over him the next few weeks as if a goalie goes down for a while he could be a solid pickup.

Leighton passed the waivers and he would have to clear re-entry waivers to play in NHL again this season.

Leighton has no trade value and won't play in NHL this year.

I'm holding him because I have the room right now, but I wouldn't hesitate to drop him. I suppose if you're hoping for a trade you could start praying that the Wings will get him with all their injuries. Never hurts to dream. lol

Could a team at the bottom of the standings use their waiver priority to orchestrate a deal involving Leighton?

    Example (3-Team):
    Islanders trade to Blues
    Blues trade to Philly
    Philly trades Leighton to Blues
    Blues recall Leighton
    Islanders claim Leighton

    Example (2-Team):
    Oilers trade to Philly
    Philly recalls Leighton
    Oilers claim Leighton

Assuming the trades make up of the subsequent salary cap hits... Is this plausible or far fetched?

I suppose its possible, but it looks to me he's staying in the AHL for the time being.

I believe he is destined to remain in the AHL for this year as he would have to clear re-entry waivers. Philly will probably let Boucher walk next year (UFA), then Leighton will backup Bobrovsky.

With Leightons play last year and Bobs play this year could we see a 1A/1B situation in Philly next year??

    I don't see anything happening.

Look at his numbers in the A. This is coming from a Leighton owner.

    2.78 GAA
    .907 SV %

    Numbers aren't necessarily bad.

Either way, his season is in the A now. We'll see what happens next year. I can see him as a back up next year, possibly emerging into a 1b type 'tender somewhere. In a 1-year, he's persona non grata though.

A lot of "ifs" involved in Leighton though. I'd personally be looking for other options. Even if he is 1b for next year, Bobrovsky is Philly's goalie for the future in my opinion.
