    Default The Ageless Lidstrom

I posted this in the Detroit Red Wings; section but I think it deserves its own thread

    Lidstrom is simply unreal.

1G and 3A again tonight vs the Avalanche.

He now has 33 points in 36 games played.
He is on currently on pace for 23 GOALS, 52 ASSISTS and 75 POINTS......As a 40 year old!!!

with those numbers, I truly don't see him retiring after this year...another year minimum. You can't retire playing every game in the season and averaging over 70 pts as a 40 year old d-man. It's astonishing.

....But wouldn't it be the perfect way to go out?

There are so many veterans who stick around for "one more year" and then their going away party is spoiled by an year-ending injury, 4th line minutes, or something like that.

I don't see Lidstrom retiring like those other vets but I don't want him to hang on as long as others have in the past. If they win the cup, I hope Lidstrom hangs them up (even if he has a 60+ point season)

what a disappointment, if he only gets 60 points!!!

I don't see him pulling a favre. If he retires this year, he'll be known as one of the best, and a sure fire HOFer. I got the honour of meeting him at the hall of fame. While looking at some of the defenseman in the hall, i told him where he wants his name in here. he laughed, and said (in fluent english), "I don't see myself in the hall of fame". I looked at Pavel Datsyuk (who was beside him), and he just nodded at me.

He's the classiest of them all, and nothing but the best to him if he retires.

He is something very very special.

It will be a sad day when he hangs them up.

I acquired him in my keeper a week and a half ago for Gonchar (other guy isn't in contention and figured at least he'll get 2 more years out of Gonchar guaranteed). Wow - glad I did. He's SOFA KING good.

I landed him as a throw in last year for Kovalchuk - didn't think that he would be the one leading the two in points...
