    Default JJ vs. Kaberle

I have the opportunity to trade JJ for Kaberle + some depth players that will add points to my roster which has a good chance to win my pool this year [team and league details in sig].

These two are basically the KEEPERS that would switch rosters. Our league gives 2 points for a D goal, but neither of these guys score much [although JJ shoots a bunch]. I would get roughly 8 years older, but Kaberle should be an established #1 D on whichever team he lands on this off-season, no?

How big a downgrade is Kaberle from JJ in a partial keeper league...or is he an upgrade, just a bit older?

    Thoughts?

    Scoring F=1[g/a]; D=2[g], 1[a]; G=2[w], -1[L], 1[OT], 2[SO] Top 12 F, 6 D, 2 G count

    Forwards
Crosby, Ovechkin, Backstrom, Wheeler, Byfuglien, Hornqvist, Simmonds, Ladd, Zuccarello, Ribeiro, Desharnais, Semin, MacArthur, Moulson, Purcell, Soderberg, Dupuis
    Defense

I don't think it's a downgrade at all, besides age. If it's a salary cap league, I'd say JJ makes a mil or 2 less next yr so it's not a huge difference.

The gamble lies in where Kabs goes. If he stays a Leaf, I think you're looking at similar production from both. 40-50 points and a non existent +/- with pims and shots favoring JJ. BUT if Kabs rides off into the sunset to a team like NJ or Dallas, I think he can surpass 50 while I don't see JJ hitting those numbers for a few more years.

The point of fantasy is to win and if you can get the necessary points to really challenge with this deal, I'd say take and go for glory. JJ at best puts up Kaberle type numbers so it's not like trading Crosby for Nash... Good luck!

Edit: I just saw that D goals count for 2. That makes JJ slightly more valuable as I see him getting to 10-15 goals a yr while 10 for kaberle would be miraculous lol.

I would keep JJ. He's younger, playing on the LA PP and has a much better upside than Kabs. Plus Kabs is in TOR.

He's recently been bumped back to the 2nd PP again. Does that change your perspective at all?

He'll be back up and playing top pp for a long time but of this is the deal that helps you win then there's not THAT much of a gap to pass on it IMO.
