Agreed... just as I got Huselius back too. Real hard to win this year when you get injuries to Okposo, Streit, Huselius, Pronger, Prospal, etc. etc. Brutal!

Nice! Just acquired him and he lasted exactly 2 periods on my roster. Sweet!

Chris Pronger is scheduled to have surgery on his injured foot Friday.
Pronger sustained the injury during Wednesday's game against Montreal. He wasn't available for the start of the season after undergoing off-season knee surgery, but he put that behind him and scored four goals and 15 points in 31 games. He's expected to miss four-to-six weeks.

trying to turn this into a positive, a well rested Pronger for the playoffs is a good thing. Give him all the time he needs.

Given Pronger's style of play, Coburn would be best suited.

Meszaros will step up and be asked to play a bigger role. I think he will pair with Carle and be the second 2 pair. Timo and Coburn will take the 1st line minutes but this was another reason why Meszaros was added in the offseason. If someone of the top 4 got hurt, they could put him in the spot and it wouldnt be that much of a concern.

Kimmo gets to play a bigger role ( and we get to see if he can still handle it or has he already slipped below that level)

Meszaros gets to play a bigger role.

    Bartulis gets another serious look.

SOMEBODY's going to get some powerplay time, and considering how the pp has struggled, it may be a forward who gets an opportunity.

Pronger gets to conserve some gas for the playoffs, ...but more importantly it gives him a chance to concentrate on getting his knee healthy, ...he's admitted that he hasn't been anywhere close to 100%, so now while he's out, he can dive headfirst into rehabbing/strengthening it; which may in the long run turn out to be a huge benefit to both him and the Flyers.

Meszaros is my bet too. He should step up in a big way.

Interesting turn of events, in some ways I'm happy since I was starting to play 5 D and didn't know who to start benching. Not like Pronger was lighting the world on fire or anything. I hope Tim steps up, but when Pronger was injured to start the season he did zilch and squat.

Frank Seravelli reports that Pronger had surgery today and had two screws inserted into his foot.

Pronger says he broke his foot blocking a shot by B Gionta vs the Habs,

...and not in the parking lot after the game while attempting to stomp kittens as had been alleged by most Penguins fans.

Definitely not caused by Pronger's kitten stomping ritual. Pronger is typically strengthened by the stomping of kittens and it is most likely his recent refrain from these actions that left him weak and vulnerable to Gionta's shot. Moral of the story? Pronger needs to stomp more kittens.
