I'm excited to see Marcus Foligno. I've never seen him play and apparently he has looked awesome in camp.

I think there's a great mix on D. Ellis and de Haan for pure offense, Cowen and Gudrbanson for defense, and Despres for a little bit of both (he looked great when I saw the rookie camp this off-season). Don't know what type of games Olson or Barrie play, though.

I'm disappointed that RNH or Murphy didn't make it, but the coaching staff is smarter than guys like me so I won't complain.

I am VERY SURPRISED that Murray didn't make the squad. Depres didn't deserve to make the squad from what I have heard. I would've also loved to see RNH there as well and i agree with your assessment of the forwards being redundant. I think Canada will regret not taking Murray and RNH. It seems that each year Canada makes the mistake of taking the elder kids (yes it's a 20year tournament but 1-2 17year olds will only help in providing energy and prepare them for the future IMO).

    Big Ev,

    - Barrie provides offensive abilities but isn't bad at shutting down opponents either. He brings a lot of experience.
    - Foligno was born in the USA but has dual citizenship and chose to play for Canada. That has to be motivation for him in this tournament held on US soil.

I am interested to see how our Goalies do. Not one goalie really stepped up in the final camp so it will be interesting to see who steps up here. Hopefully our goaltending doesn't suck too bad and someone has a huge camp. It's not surprising after mediocre goaltending in camp that the coaches desided to go with familiarity in Visentine (plays against him in the OHL) and Roy

    Predictions:
one of Jaden Schwartz, Leblanc or Couturier will be the story of the tournament for the Canadians
Brett Connolly's stock will also rise
Ryan Ellis will log a tonne of ice as our leader and most experience dman
Our goaltending will be what let's us down if anything does.

Cowen and Ellis are gonna be dymanite. Ellis will have no problems joining the rush because he knows he's got a behemoth back there who can cover for him...and Cowen is just gonna shut down those small European forwards.

Most aren't out yet, I"m pretty sure. However, TSN has some pre cut rosters

    Team Canada Thoughts

    Best Forward: B. Schenn
Offensive leaders for forwards: Schwartz, Leblanc, Schenn
    Biggest surprise: M. Foligno
    Best defenseman: Ryan Ellis
Weaknesses: Goaltending, I'm not confident about it, as Campbell is better than both by a lot.
Should have made it: In my mind, Sheahan definetly should have made it
On Double Underaged Ryans: 1 would have made it, if the other Ryan, Ryan Ellis wasn't there, taking that role, as all 3 are great offensively, and relatively small.
Defense: Not too happy about it either, no one I really like other than Ellis...
Forwards: Overall, I like this group. Players like Schwartz, Kassian, Schenn, Hamilton, Foligno, Johansen, Leblanc, Ashton, Connolly, are all sick. Cizikas is decent, and I guess so is Eakin, but I'm not that happy with the Howden pick.

    Medal: GOLD!!!

The Slovak roster is legit, I believe.

and in this release they say Panik has been named to the team, so it's already been formed.

I saw one of the red and white games and I can't give an in depth analysis I'm not that good, but RNH looks small against the older players, he did have some good plays. I wouldn't want him out there though.
Sheahan I don't know what he does on the ice, floats around...great potential and skill, but I think he is missing intensity.... I guess he did have a good CIS game.
    Cowen is huge.

I'm excited to see Leblanc, Couturier and Foligno

Good He should stay in the NHL if we can't have Hall, Seguin, Skinner, etc. etc.

true enough .... with these young 18 and 19 yr olds playing in the show now it really affects the talent pool that some teams have available.

Canada is just giving these guys a little more seasoning so they can send them to the next one in 2011/2012.
