also...Draper likely to retire unless he gets a contract, again I think its time the Wings moved on, he's had a great year in DET but its time to bring on some of the youngsters

Thanks for keeping this thread alive Shake

Red Wings' writer George Malik gives his links on the retirement and HHOF discussions here

    Also covered in the post:
    - Datysuk's holding a hockey camp in Russia and it's got updates
    - Most expect Ty Conklin to be brought in later this week

The presser is just moments away

Conklin would fit like a glove behind Howard in Detroit, would be a perfect signing, and he'll come cheap too.

Does this do anything for Conklin's value or is he just a backup on a slightly better team than St Louis?

Yep that's pretty much it. Unless Howard gets hurt , Conklin's value is pretty much the same as it has been.

Damn, Figured it was coming but what a player for the Wings he was. Not so much on the stat sheet obviously, but total heart and hustle, locker room type guy. Awesome player for the Wings. Drapes, Raffy, Ozzie 3 huge plugs but guess what folks? Wings wont miss a beat in terms of wins / losses.

Drapes will stay on with the Wings in a " Front office role" man I love how the Wings keep their players in the family.

Red Wings have signed Fabian Brunnstrom to a try-out

It appears Brunnstrom is dead set on finding an NHL job as he's turned down several offers from the Elitserien league.
