So what's your take Mr Youngblood? Can you see him making the team or at least getting an offer for two-way deal?

Detroit has a fairly decent track record with these sort of guys and they don't seem to mind taking chances on them.
    Without me, it's only "aweso".

He's got to beat out some kids (Mursak, Emmerton) for a roster spot. I really can't see him succeeding without a boat load of injuries occurring (possible with Franzen, Bertuzzi, etc.).

At this point, I think Emmerton, Mursak and Tatar are ahead of Fabian so it's unlikely he makes his mark. It does show that he's determined to make the NHL as he turned down SEL offers. The Red Wings were one of the teams who initially coveted him and with the strong presence of Swedes in the room he could become more comfortable. Pretty big long shot IMO.

If Brunnstrom is dead set on trying to earn an NHL spot, does that mean he would be willing to play in the A? or do you think he would head back to Europe?

Doubt he's going to get a spot on the big club, but given how bad the depth in Grand Rapids usually is, he should have no problem earning a decent role down there.

From what I have heard, he's attempting to make the main roster (Red Wings) or he's headed back to Europe if he doesn't.

If he really is heart set on being in the NHL, that would be a mistake.

It would make more sense for him to prove he belongs in the A and then be among the first call ups when injuries strike.

If you watch any Wings training camps and wonder to yourself " Who is that number 24 guy? Well that is Pavel Datsyuk wearing 24 paying tribute to Ruslan Salei ( only during pre season) he will switch back to his normal number 13 during the season.

    Hey Dean,

With Mursak's injury, and based on the positive news read about him - and chance Brunstrom does anything?

Also, what's Nyquist's eta? How do you compare him to Tatar?

Brunnstrom has had a VERY strong camp. He's been one of the better Wings throughout pre-season and Mursak's injury definitely improves his chances of making the roster. Right now, Emmerton, Brunnstrom and Ryan Johnson are competing for the final spots. It appears that Emmerton will get one of those spots but Brunnstrom is in a battle for the other for sure. I can't see why Brunnstrom wouldn't get into a few games. What he really needs to do is play well once he gets that call up whether that is from the opening day roster or an early call up. Brunnstrom NEEDS to give a team reason to keep him up.

I haven't heard much about Tatar and I would take that as more of a bad thing than anything. I've been a believer that Tatar is another year (or half year) from coming up to play with the Wings anyways.

This article believes Brunnstrom has the edge on R.Johnson and also mentions that Nyquist has had a strong camp.

Nyquist is still in camp but I would expect for him to head to Grand Rapids for the year. Too many guys ahead of him (Emmerton, Johnson, Tatar, Brunnstrom).

Gustav Nyquist was sent to Grand Rapids following his 2G and 1A game today.
