Can EDM please put Evan Bouchard in the line-up for the love of god?!

I feel like half of their defense can make a simple pass to save their life

Considering they are about to re-enter negotiations with him again, I don't see him going too far.

Excited to see negotiations taking place with Nuge again. He'll be in high demand if he hits free agency. But maybe they can get a better price with him struggling to score at 5-on-5. Term is also key, I'd want to keep it to 4-5 years at under $7M, but that may be too tough for the team to win on term and dollars.

If he gets any sort of a pay raise, the Oilers would be better off not re-signing him. They already have his replacement with a cap of $863,333 for the next two seasons. And Bouchard may even learn to defend while Barrie definitely cannot. Tonight was a typical Barrie game...4 assists, less than 40% xGF.

Solid bounceback win for the Oilers last night. Even better that it was against the Flames. It's only fitting that Sutter's first loss in his return to the NHL is against the Oilers, in a pounding none the less.

Oilers fans, what are your thoughts on Dylan Holloway and his future in Edmonton?? He is definitely going to be given a shot on one of those top two lines.. But what should we expect a few years down the road??

Personally, I think he slides in as a solid 2LW down the road. This is assuming RNH re-signs (which I assume will happen at some point). The left side has been a bit of a shitshow for the Oilers since Hall left and even when he was there, there wasn't much behind him.

in a flat cap world if Barrie gets offered like 6m x 3-4 years he should take it.

If a team offers Tyson Barrie 6m x 3 or 4 years, the GM should be fired immediately. He leads the NHL in points by dmen this year and yet he's been the Oilers FOURTH BEST right shot dman. It sure helps when your d partner is scoring on 11.3% of his shots AND you spent 75% of your ice time with either Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl or Connor Mcdavid AND Leon Draisaitl.

Signing Barrie for 1 year at $3.75M to use the cap savings from Klefbom missing the season was a great move. Signing him to a multi-year extension and giving him a raise when you have an arguably better right shot dman, who's not currently in the lineup ,signed for the next 2years with a cap hit of $865,000 is crazy talk.

I don't know what to do with Barrie. Don't care right now. Keep doing what you're doing Tyson.

They may have a tough time keeping him out of their top-6, especially if they cannot retain Nuge, considering they are still having issues finding 4 consistent wingers for McDavid and Draisaitl. Between Yamamoto, Nuge and Puljujarvi they are sitting at about 2.5 out of 4, 3/4 if you want to be generous to the still too streaky Puljujarvi, but they'd bump him down if they could.

Acknowledging their top-6 needs, Holloway may fit best at C and fill that 3C role that has been a challenge forever. Either way it's hard to see him not being at least a 15-16 minute per game player by 2022-23, even if it's the latter half of that season. We may see Holloway as soon as this season. But more realistically, a full year and another half season for Holloway in the minors before popping is the best bet for a timeline. It's the Ken Holland way. Think about the minors time for Yamamoto and Bouchard. We're an overbaking team now, like it or not (I tend to like it).
