That was actually a good game. Both Smith and Murray played well actually. It should have been a lot worse if not for Murray. He really kept them in it. Smith, in his first game of the year looked solid too. The only goal he gave up was a bit of a fluke off Larssons stick.

I didn't see it mentioned on here but found it pretty crazy.

Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid finished the game with a 5:48 and 5:54 shift respectively

That's insane but not all that surprising.

Opens the door for Marner to get in between them.

Great game tonight. Getting fantastic production from the blueline and the bottom lines producing. Love it.

Smith's play is settling this team down. Another solid start against a tough opponent.

Team was crap in front of him. I didn't think he gave up bad goals. You let snipers in the slot, from the dots in, they gonna snipe. The team in front of him gave Winnipeg too many prime looks and they capitalized.

Smith simply isn't a reliable NHL goalie anymore.

He isn't a prime goalie with prime positioning and reflexes no, but his team gave WPG open looks. Conversely, WPG gave Edmonton open looks a plenty, and they scored too.. and Hellebuyck doesn't suck that much.

So....he's not a reliable NHL goalie anymore? Or are you saying he is but just doesn't have positioning and reflexes anymore to be what? A reliable NHL goalie? I would have thought those were important tools for an NHL goalie. Yes the roster in front of him is a disaster. Doesn't change the fact that he is no longer a reliable NHL goalie. Is 'prime' different than reliable? Or are you just being contrarian for the sake of it?

    Woah woah...

I mean, he's not a top 10 NHL goalie like he once was. He's past his prime. He is still NHL calibre or he wouldn't have a job, but there is quite a range to NHL calibre.

If he was still an above-average NHL goalie like he once was, he stops two of those goals. Any better and he'd have to have been elite. He is neither now, but is, at best, an NHL quality goaltender who is likely in the last year of his career.

That's what I mean by prime; he is not in his prime and he does not play like any NHL goalie in his prime, because he is neither of those things. I still don't think you can hang the loss on him alone.
