The tense of this phrase is incorrect. It should be not be about the future but should be about the past and the present.
Something like, "this team continues to be managed into complete oblivion," would be more grammatically correct (and also much more painful for Oiler fans).
The Oiler problems start with Katz continue down through Nicholson to Holland and then Tippett. Those four all need to go before the Oilers have any hope of success.
Imagine thinking that going from a defence corps of
Nurse - Bear
Jones - Larsson
Russell - Barrie (with Lagesson, Bouchard, Koekkoek all healthy scratches)
to
Nurse - Barrie
Keith - Ceci
Russell - Bouchard
is an improvement.
